Variety reports that Universal will remake Bigas Luna’s Spanish shocker ANGUISH, which was released to U.S. theaters in 1988. The team behind it have been responsible for a number of reduxes lately: Vertigo Entertainment’s Roy Lee and Doug Davison, who delivered the RING and GRUDGE films and others, will produce (Luna himself will be an executive producer), and the script will be written by Jake Wade Wall, who penned this year’s WHEN A STRANGER CALLS and Rogue Pictures’ upcoming update of THE HITCHER. The original ANGUISH stars Michael Lerner and POLTERGEIST’s Zelda Rubinstein, and starts out as a chiller about a mother-dominated madman who cuts out his victims’ eyes. It is eventually revealed that the scenario is a movie being played in a theater—where the audience starts getting bumped off for real.

Ya llegan hasta el extremo de rehacer una producción foránea rodada en su lengua y pretendidamente ambientada en los Estados Unidos, que sinceramente me parece dificil de mejorar.
