I know what you’re thinking: “Did he fire six shots, or only five?” Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I’ve kinda lost track myself. But being this is a 44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you’ve got to ask yourself one question:“Do I feel lucky?” Well do ya, punk? (Harry Callahan)

Nuevos lanzamientos para octubre-noviembre:
Fuente: Bleeding CoolDR. MABUSE, DER SPIELER – Fritz Lang’s first film in the Mabuse series of films. This five hour feature is getting a Blu-ray upgrade from MoC, having originally featured in the Complete Mabuse DVD box-set, and will be released on the 28th of October.
LATE MIZOGUCHI: Eight Films 1951-1956 – Wow, this is quite a significant release for MoC. All eight films from their previous DVD box-set are getting the Blu-ray upgrade. The films in this set are Oyû-sama aka Miss Oyu (1951), Ugetsu monogatari (1953), Gion-bayashi (1953), Sanshô-dayû (1954), Uwasa no onna (1954), Chikamatsu monogatari (1954), Yôkihi (1955), Akasen-chitai (1956). Yôkihi is particularly notable for being Mizoguchi’s first film in colour. This set will be released on the 21st of October.
RED RIVER – Howard Hawk’s 1948 western starring John Wayne and Montgomery Clift will get a regular Blu-ray and steelbook release on the 28th of October.
NOSFERATU – One we already knew about. Murnau’s seminal film is getting a new Blu-ray based on a 2013 restoration. The new disc will also feature new supplements – including a David Kalatcommentary and a video piece from Abel Ferrara. The film is playing this week at FrightFest and will then get a UK theatrical release on the 25th of October before being released on Blu-ray. More information on the UK release can be found at the BFI here. In addition to regular DVD and Blu-ray editions this release will also be available as a steelbook.
MARTIN SCORSESE PRESENTS: WORLD CINEMA FOUNDATION Volume One – This will be a three film, dual format set which will be released on the 25th of November and will include Dry Summer (Metin Erksan, Turkey, 1964), Trances (Ahmed El Maanouni, Morocco, 1981) and Revenge (Ermek Shinarbaev, Kazakhstan, 1989). I love the sense of discovery that is often involved with many Masters of Cinema releases and this set will all be about discovery for me. I’ve not seen any of these three but I can’t wait to check them out.
Volume Two will be announced soon and this will be an ongoing series. There will be two box-sets released each year and each release will feature exclusive introductions from Martin Scorsese and 80 page booklets. Quite a huge deal for Masters of Cinema and one that will undoubtedly lead to some fascinating new discussion about overlooked films.
One film that will feature in a forthcoming box is Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s debut film MYSTERIOUS OBJECT AT NOON, which will be presented at the Venice Film Festival next week.

-¿Por qué no se fía de los hombres?
- Porque una vez me fie de uno.
Tierras Lejanas (1955, Anthony Mann).
Numerado y limitado a 2000 unidades.
