    No se si se ha comentado, pero esta notícia ha salido hoy en El Periodico de Cataluña y la he encontrado bastante curiosa y que desconocía totalmente....

    • Un chillido grabado en 1951 y usado en unas 120 películas reaparece en 'La venganza de los Sith'

    Cuando en la batalla inicial de La venganza de los Sith un láser alcanza a un soldado droide, se escucha un grito de dolor breve, pero terrorífico. Es exactamente el mismo grito que, en el anterior episodio de la saga galáctica, lanza un piloto cuando perece en el atentado contra la nave de la senadora Amidala. Un grito que, para los oídos afinados, también se escucha en Reservoir dogs cuando le disparan a Mr. Brown (Quentin Tarantino) en su coche. O cuando Bruce Willis casi atropella a un mimo en la tercera entrega de La jungla de cristal. Un chillido idéntico al de Buzz Lightyear cuando sale disparado por la ventana del dormitorio en Toy story.

    IRREPETIBLE
    El grito es un mito en la historia de Hollywood y tiene también un nombre: es el grito de Wilhelm, que se ha convertido en una broma recurrente de los especialistas de sonido en un sinfín de películas que se van estrenando. Es la pregunta: ¿cuándo se escuchará el grito de Wilhelm? Es fácilmente identificable, irrepetible, y ya ha sido utilizado en unas 120 películas a lo largo de las cinco últimas décadas.
    El diario británico The Times acaba de desvelar la gran incógnita sobre el grito más enigmático de Hollywood. Nunca se supo quién lanzó ese chillido, de apenas segundo y medio, que debutó en 1951 en Tambores lejanos con dos irrupciones: una, cuando se matan a tres indios, y la otra, la más famosa, cuando un cocodrilo muerde a un hombre en la pierna y lo arrastra debajo del agua. "¡Aaaaaaaaaarrrrrgggghhh!", se oye. Un aullido que comienza en do y termina tras cuatro medios tonos en un sol agudo.

    UN ACTOR
    DISCRETO
    El rotativo inglés, tras seguir varias pistas, dio finalmente con la viuda de Sheb Wooley, un actor anónimo que hace dos años falleció de leucemia. Hizo un pequeño papel de malo en Sólo ante el peligro y también era cantante. En 1951, Wooley grabó una serie breve de gritos de dolor para Tambores lejanos, que después fueron archivados en la librería de sonidos y efectos especiales de la Warner Bros. Ésta los volvió a utilizar en una quincena de películas hasta mediados de los años 70.
    Fue justo entonces cuando el técnico de sonido Ben Burtt tomó el relevo, indagando en su propia memoria. De niño había visto el filme del oeste La carga de los jinetes indios y le impresionó aquel grito estremecedor. En esa cinta, el personaje con el nombre de Wilhelm se retuerce de dolor al ser alcanzado en su pierna por una flecha. Burtt encontró el fragmento y lo usó en la primera entrega de La guerra de las galaxias.
    A partir de ahí, Burtt, del estudio de sonido Skywalker Sound, y un pequeño grupo de compañeros de profesión se propusieron colar el grito en prácticamente todas las películas en las que colaboraban. Y, así, el momento de gloria de apenas un segundo y medio de Wilhelm, o de Sheb Wooley, ha estado presente desde entonces en escenas de pánico, muerte o vértigo de Poltergeist, Titanic, las tres entregas de Indiana Jones, las seis de La guerra de las galaxias, en Las dos torres de El señor de los anillos, Ocean's eleven, Arma letal 4 y Kill Bill, pero también en películas de dibujos animados como Aladín, La sirenita y La bella y la bestia.
    Estos días, al margen de la batalla inicial de La venganza de los Sith, puede escucharse en El reino de los cielos y pronto en Sin city.
