El próximo 6 de noviembre los beatlófilos estamos de enhorabuena: se reedita -¡¡otra vez!!- el recopilatorio The Beatles 1, pero en esta ocasión acompañado de un blu ray/DVD con vídeos originales de cada canción, y además con sonido en alta resolución y mezcla 5.1 -en Dolby Digital y DTS HD- a cargo del hijo de George Martin, Gilles. En su formato De Luxe se incluye otro blu ray con más vídeos alternativos. La noticia completa, aquí:



The Beatles‘ best-selling 1 compilation will be reissued and expanded in November as CD+Blu-ray and CD+DVD sets featuring remixed stereo and surround sound and for the first time fully restored full length videos for each of the 27 number one singles.

The original promo films, classic television appearances and other carefully selected videos spanning the band’s history have been painstakingly restored with 35mm negatives scanned in 4K and digitally restored along with other processes such as frame-by-frame cleaning and colour-grading. This has created outstanding standards of clarity and quality.


The standard two-disc editions (CD+Blu-ray or CD+DVD) feature 27 videos, with bonus content of Paul McCartney audio commentary on three films and and Ringo Starr filmed introductions for a four of them. These can also be purchased without the CD element.

A deluxe three disc set, 1+, offers a second video disc (dvd or blu-ray) with a further 23 videos including Rain, Strawberry Fields Forever, A Day In The Life, Hey Bulldog, Don’t Let Me Down, Free As A Bird and Real Love, along with many alternate promos of classic tracks including Paperback Writer, Day Tripper and Hello Goodbye. In total, the deluxe edition gives you over 200 minutes of video content via 50 individual films (20 of these weren’t used at all in The Beatles’ Anthology, with others used only in part or in alternate edits).

This deluxe 1+ also offers enhanced packaging and is presented in an expanded 124-page illustrated hardcover book with notes by music journalist Mark Ellen and detailed track/video annotation by music historian and author Richard Havers.

Exciting though this video content is, the sound is a very big deal since all editions of the new 1 reissue feature newly created stereo and 5.1 Dolby Digital and DTS HD surround audio mixes, produced from the original analogue tapes by Giles Martin with Sam Okell at Abbey Road Studios (Jeff Lynne and engineer Steve Jay have remixed Free As A Bird and Real Love). The CD with these packages uses the new stereo mixes, not the 2009 remasters (a 2LP 180g vinyl package will follow).

Se venía rumoreando desde hace tiempo el lanzamiento de esta colección de vídeo-clips, que está muy bien porque en el Anthology hay pocos enteros y además suelen estar salpicados por otras imágenes o cortados con entrevistas, etc. Una restauración minuciosa y masterización a 4K es todo un lujo para este tipo de material, que suele salir en condiciones mucho peores, pero Beatles son Beatles.

Ahora bien, desde el punto de vista musical hay un notición escondido en este lanzamiento: lo que representa el hecho de que se nos ofrezca una buena parte del catálogo remezclado en un nuevo stereo. Esa es la razón de que también se lance el 1 como CD suelto, que lleva estas nuevas mezclas stereo.
Los Beatles desarrollaron su carrera justo en el período en que se pasó del mono como formato de mezcla preponderante, a la exclusividad del stereo. Esto hace que muchas de sus canciones tengan mezclas stereo muy extrañas o primitivas (por ejemplo, los dos primeros discos separan las voces por un lado y los instrumentos por otro, dejando un enorme vacío en el centro; Rubber Soul está mezclado de forma muy parecido).

Los beatlemanos estamos acostumbrados a este extraño stereo, pero siempre se ha hablado de las posibilidades que tendrían unas remezclas que ofrecieran un stereo más normal, además de aumentar la calidad de sonido al masterizar desde los masters multi-pistas, una o varias generaciones anteriores al master stereo final. Algo de esto ya se pudo probar con la banda sonora de "Yellow Submarine" remezclada en 1999 (pero eran sólo 15 canciones) o en el reciente "Love" (pero en ese caso las canciones estaban mezcladas entre sí como en el espectáculo de Las Vegas). Lo que me genera dudas es cómo harán con las primeras canciones, que fueron grabadas en dos pistas, y por tanto no hay muchas posibilidades de remezcla en stereo, no digamos ya en 5.1. Incluso algunas como Love me do o She loves you tienen el inconveniente de que se perdió el máster de dos pistas original, y sólo se conserva la mezcla final en mono (de ahí que siempre aparezcan en mono, incluso en discos stereo). Igual existe algún modo técnico de filtrar elementos sueltos del sonido para poder jugar con ellos, veremos.

Se rumoreó que cuando empezó todo el proceso de remasterización del catálogo, Giles Martin empezó también a remezclarlo. Una vez explotado comercialmente el catálogo con las mezclas originales, mono y stereo, tanto en CD como en vinilo, parece que en uno o dos años tendremos las esperadas remezclas. Lo que esperaría como fan para ese proyecto: cada disco editado en Blu-ray audio (por su amplia capacidad de almacenaje) para que cada disco incluya las mezclas originales en mono y stereo (pero en alta resolución, claro), remezcla en stereo y remezcla en 5.1 si procede. Sé que Apple suele explotar todo por separado y poco a poco, pero por soñar...

El precio me parece abusivo, la verdad . Obviamente, a los muy fans sólo nos vale la edición con los dos Blu-ray (o DVD según lo que se tenga). Tanto en USA como en UK supera los 50 euros. He comprado lujosas ediciones con más blu-rays por mucho menos que eso. En Canadá, en cambio, está por debajo de los 40 euros, pero con amazon.ca siempre está el problema de las aduanas.

Hola a todos. Estoy como loco por tener esta edicion de luxe. Tener los dos blu ray y el cd remezclado va a ser una gozada!!! Ojala remezclen todo el catalogo en breve, y tambien que saliera en sacd, no estaria mal. Yo he comprado los shmcd japoneses y no hay apenas diferencia con la remasterizacion del 2009. Tambien he leido en algun foro extranjero que posiblemente para 2017 saldria el documental Let it be en blu ray. Por fin la musica de Beatles se va apoder ezcuchar como es debido.

Por último, un vídeo de pantalla partida de Penny Lane para comprobar la calidad de la restauración:

Nuevo vídeo oficial: "Revolution" restaurado y remezclado (otro, por cierto, que sólo está incluido en el disco extra de la edición buena). Dos buenas noticias: se respeta el aspect ratio original 4:3 (algo que no siempre ocurre en los DVD de música, véase la colección de McCartney que salió hace unos años con los vídeos mutilados a 16:9). Y por otro lado, se respetan las voces grabadas especialmente para el vídeo-clip, que difieren bastante de lo que se escucha en el disco. La pista instrumental es la misma.

Ya han salido a la venta los distintos packs, y tanto las restauraciones de los vídeos como las nuevas mezclas sonoras están recibiendo unas críticas excelentes. En el canal oficial de youtube han subido dos más: We Can Work It Out y Penny Lane, y lo cierto es que suenan como si se hubieran grabado ayer mismo.

Alguno de vosotros lo ya recibido ya en Amazon no lo tienen disponible en francia lleva desde el día 6 en preparando envio. En Fnac pine q necesitan 8 dias y en tienda física no lo he visto. Alguien sabe algo.

Esto es un auténtico despropósito. Aquí, en mi ciudad pueblerina, auténtico trasero de Europa, no ha llegado más que el formato CD/DVD, y de los otros no se sabe absolutamente nada ni en El Corte Inglés -cosa que no sorprende- ni en la única tienda de discos de la zona -aunque tampoco extraña-. Pedí en su momento el doble BD/CD a Amazon UK y éstos se hicieron un lío incomprensible, enviándome un correo alertándome de que mi pedido tenía problemas porque donde ponía BD era en realidad DVD. Al menos me dieron la opción de anularlo. En Amazon España te lo envían con "prontitud", de 5 a 8 semanas ... Estoy empezando a creer que la edición de Luxe es una leyenda urbana. Finalmente, terminaré solicitándola donde la expidan antes (seguramente FNAC). Es la primera vez que no disfruto un lanzamiento beatle en la fecha de salida. Quien espera, desespera ...

Audiocomentarios subtitulados. Canciones, no. Sólo pongo capturas de los menús, pero probado el contenido, a primera vista...

Vuelve a estar disponible en fnac.es la edición deluxe en blu-ray, aunque dice que tarda entre 8 y 10 días en mandarla. Pero hoy y mañana está rebajada, se queda en 40 euros para los socios fnac (un 30% de descuento).

Quisiera saber si la edición De Luxe de amazon.es lleva 1 ó 2 blu ray, por que veo otra edición de importación que sí indica 2 blu ray, pero a un precio mucho más elevado.

Lleva 2 blu-ray, sí. Cuando pone edición deluxe quiere decir que lleva 3 discos (1 CD y 2 DVD o Blu-ray) y el libreto.

Supongo que todas las ediciones de los DVD incluidos en las diversas presentaciones del producto son de región libre.

Tanto los DVD como los BD son libres de zona, sí. Pero ojo, porque los DVD son NTSC, así que quien los compre debe saber que su reproductor y televisor deben ser compatibles (en los últimos años todos lo son, hablamos de gente con televisores o reproductores bastante antiguos).

Hola a todos. Ayer me llego el pack del cd y los dos blu ray, y mis primeras impresiones despues de estar toda la tarde probandolo fueron inmejorables. La presentacion es fantastica, es un digibook, y el librito que viene es miy completo con grandes explicaciones de cada cancion y muy buena fotos, solo in librito asi, puede costar unos 12 o 15 euros. Lo primero que escuche fue el cd, para ver que tal las remezclas, y me fascino, unas canciones mejor que otras, pero un 10 en general. Help es BRUTAL, nunca he escuchado Help con tanta claridad y tan cristalina. Something mas de los mismo, Come together increible. Day tripper y We can work it out tienen las voces en el centro, por fin!!!!! Al igual que Eleanor Rigby, las voces tambien en el centro comomen el Yellow Submarine, pero la,seccion de cuerda se oye mejor en esta edicion,osea, genial. Y asi con todas, Penny Lane uffff comomse oye. Lastima que no hicieron esto en el 2009 con los remaster........
Despues estuve viendo y escuchado trozos de los videos de los dos blu ray. Para mi la imagen no esta mal,nada del otro mundo, se ven bien, sin mas, algunos mejor, otros peor, pero para mi lo malo es que tienen bandas negras laterales y eso no me llena tanto. Los videos son los que hemos visto muchas veces, muchos del anthology, eso si, estan completos y salen imagenes que en otros videos que he visto con las actuaciones estan cortados. Para mi, especial atencion a Strawerry flields, con unangran calidad de imagen, y el peor, I want to hold your hand, se ve como el culo. Ahora el sonido de los blu ray es otra cosa. El sonido DTS HD master audio, es espectacular, no con grandes efectos en los traseros, como pasaba con LOVE, pero los dos frontales y el central se oyen de muerte, todas y cada una de las canciones. Y para mi la gran sorpresa ha sido escuchar los dos blu ray con sonido stereo en PCM 96/24 ALUCINANTE, Solo por eso pagaria tres veces mas de lo que me ha costado. No hago mencion especial a ninguna cancion, porque todas en PCM son lo mejor que he oido en mi vida, y lo tengo todo en todos los formatos, cds, vinilos, en mono remaster en stereo, los shcd japoneses, y estas 27 canciones en PCM son las mejores. Supongo que sera el futuro y sacaran la discografia completa en blu ray audio, con DTS HD master audio y PCM,rezopor ello y ojala sea cuanto antes. Resumiendo, merece la pena la compra? SI.

Tanto los DVD como los BD son libres de zona, sí. Pero ojo, porque los DVD son NTSC, así que quien los compre debe saber que su reproductor y televisor deben ser compatibles (en los últimos años todos lo son, hablamos de gente con televisores o reproductores bastante antiguos).

¿ Son NTSC incluso si compras el producto en Europa ? (Amazon UK , Amazon España, etc )

Fernando, el poder sacar todo el provecho de ese sonido estéreo en PCM 96/24, ¿ depende de las prestaciones del reproductor de Blu-ray ?
¿ podré disfrutarlo también si compro la presentación del producto en forma de 1 CD + 2 DVD ?
