Richard Lynch (1940-2012)

It pains me to bring you guys this unfortunate news today, and it never gets any easier reporting on someone’s passing. Unfortunately, the legendary character actor Richard Lynch has passed according to a great friend of his, Rob Zombie.

Richard Lynch passed away at the age of 72, and the cause of death hasn’t been confirmed just yet.
Lynch began his career way back in 1972 with the film Scarecrow in which he starred alongside Al Pacino and from here the sky was the limit. His film career blossomed and Lynch soon became a cult favorite.
He was instantly recognizable with his blond hair and strong, gaunt, face and starred in possibly over 100 films. Working with everybody and anybody in Hollywood in a range of films from dramas to b-movies, you name it, Richard Lynch has done it.
As well as feature films, he had a very successful career in TV with shows like Battlestar Galactica, The Phoenix, Airwolf and even the A-Team to name just a small few.
But for me, he will always be remembered for starring in a slew of action films and of course is role in the horror genre. I always remembered him as being “that guy”, as soon as I seen his face I’d think, “hey, its that guy!”.
From Puppet Master III, Alligator II and The Premonition, all the way up to his most recent work such as Laid to Rest and Rob Zombie’s Halloween as Principal Chambers.
One thing is for sure, Richard Lynch will never be forgotten and his legacy will forever live on in film, I ask you to share any memories or tributes to the man, Richard Lynch. R.I.P brother.

Según parece se prendió fuego a sí mismo a finales de los años 60 durante un mal viaje de LSD

Supongo que su distintivo rostro era el resultado de la cirugía que le aplicaron posteriormente para intentar arreglar tamaño estropicio

Edito: curioseando información sobre este suceso he descubierto que protagonizó un cortometraje en 1968 (LSD: Trip to Where?, junto al popular gurú del LSD Timothy Leary) proclamando irónicamente a los cuatro vientos las virtudes de la nueva droga.

Vaya una muerte inesperada, como casi todas supongo... Acababa de rodar The Lords of Salem con Rob Zombie, quien también le dió un papel secundario en Halloween. Por cierto en su último film se reunía con viejos conocidos como Dee Wallace (Alligator II), Michael Berryman (Los bárbaros, Cut and Run), Barbara Crampton (Trancers II) o Billy Drago (Invasión USA). Un buen homenaje de despedida. De su carrera destacar los papeles de villano en The Seven-Ups e Invasión USA, el alien de Demon o El espantapájaros junto a Al Pacino. DEP.

También nos ha dejado estos días Susan Tyrrell, nominada como mejor secundaria por su inmensa actuación de alcohólica en Fat City.
