Harry Styles may just have landed himself his first ever movie role and it’s been reported that Leonardo DiCaprio is eyeing the One Direction star up for his new flick.
Last week we reported that producer Harvey Weinstein has already met with the Steal My Girl hitmaker on a number of occasions. He offered him a part in one of his own productions last year but Styles was forced to decline, due to his all encompassing 1D tour schedule.
Harvey insisted that when the time is right, Styles will make the leap to the big screen and he’s promised that the handsome singer won’t even have to audition for him when he’s ready to make the move.
It sounds like Weinstein isn’t the only interested party though and today in The Daily Star it’s reported that Leonardo DiCaprio is also hoping to sign Haz to his books.
The film will be based around the life of Norwegian King Harald Hardrada – who Leo would like Harry to play – and while it’s in early development stages right now with production company Appian Way, insiders say Styles has already been approached about taking on the historical role.
An insider said:
“Leo’s plan is to direct the movie, and also star alongside Harry.
“They’ve been friends for a while now, and got chatting recently about Harry’s acting career –
Leo would love to be the man to turn him into a movie star.
“Leo’s asked Harry to take the role, but has promised him it won’t interfere with his commitments to One Direction.
“The movie is in its initial stages so a filming schedule would be fit around the band’s tour dates.”
One Direction will be touring until the end of 2015, at which point they will move straight into promoting their soon to be recorded fifth studio album. The band are only contracted to their record label until next year though, so there could be big changes on the cards for the 1D singer if he decides to brand out into movie roles.
