A mediados de agosto Warner editará en Norteamérica un pack con 6 títulos inéditos del gran Jimmy Stewart:

No conozco la última.

¡¡Colorado Jim!!! ... y ¡El espíritu de San Luis! ... y a las demás que les den... Creo que este pack no me lo compro. Pero esas dos caen fijo.

Yo quiero los tres westerns y posiblemete también El espíritu de San Luis, por cierto, que tal es esta última, es que no la he visto

El espiritu de San Luis es una demostración de lo grandisimo actor que era Jimmy Stewart: con una premisa mínima, el tio aguanta cámara como nadie durante dos horas y consigue por completo que te identifiques con todos los avatares de su aventura aerea, la mayor parte de las veces prácticamente sin diálogo. No es una obra maestra, pero es realmente entretenida.

Yo creo que las dos primeras del pack son las más flojas. La única manera de que compre el pack es que sea más barato que comprar por separado los títulos que me interesan.

Por cierto, esos dos westerns van en un disco de doble cara, porque se vende por separado como 'double feature'.

A mí The Spirit of St. Louis se me hace un poco pesada y sin embargo The Cheyenne Social Club me parece muy simpática.
The Stratton Story es la típica edulcoradilla película de superación personal o así la recuerdo yo (hace mucho que la ví).

A mi sólo me interesa "the Naked Spur" . The Spirit me parece un plomazo de cuidado, la del FBI interesante y las demás flojillas, así que como no lo vea a 10$ por allá se va a quedar.

Ronald Reagan: The Signature Collection which will include Kings Row, Knute Rockne All-American, The Hasty Heart, Storm Warning and The Winning Team.

al parecer Kings Row es famosa, pero no se por que.

KINGS ROW es famosa por la musica de Korngold, q empieza igual q la de STAR WARS (al reves, claro). Mas alla de ese dato, ni idea.

Es un melodrama dirigido por el poco valorado Sam Wood, y dicen que es lo mejor de él. Quizás también por el diseño de producción de William Cameron Menzies.

Dicen que Ronald Reagan hace su mejor papel, en un personaje del que mejor no explicar nada para no hacer spoiler...

y sale Anne Sheridan, que nunca alacanzo el estrellato pero fue mejor actriz que la mayoria de stars.

dicen que es como el Peton Place de los años 40.

This is a riveting soap opera with a cast that holds all the pieces together, and keeps the sometimes improbable plot fascinating at all times for the viewer.
It was filmed on a soundstage, with very effective scenic design by William Cameron Menzies...I just love the skies !
Brilliantly conceived and directed by Sam Wood, it's based on Harry Bellamann's best-selling novel. The excellent Erich Wolfgang Korngold score also adds to the drama and atmosphere.
Set in a turn of the century small town, where the dark secrets and vile motives of some contrast with the goodness of others, the best scenes are between Ann Sheridan and Ronald Reagan.
The chemistry between them is a delight, and their acting so real, one feels one is sharing the moment with them, even though this was filmed over 60 years ago. They shine as Randy and Drake, two strong, independent, and fun loving souls.

With the exception of one or two scenes with rather stilted dialogue between Betty Field and Robert Cummings, the pacing never lags. There are great actors even in the supporting roles, like Dame Judith Anderson and Maria Ouspenskaya. Claude Rains is absolutely marvelous, and steals every scene he's in.

This classic was nominated for several Oscars...B&W Cinematography (James Wong Howe), Director, and Best Picture, but lost to a "Mrs. Minever" sweep.
It's perhaps Ronald Reagan's best performance, so this film is a piece of American history, as well as being highly entertaining.

Que saquen ya el pack de Gary Cooper con "El manantial", "Sargento York"...
