Espectacular interpretación. E interesante elección. Es una obra "menor" (todo lo menor que puede ser una obra del bardo, entiéndase) PERO tiene pasajes de gran significación y muy meritorios formalmente (especialmente en el DELICIOSO segundo acto).
Uno de los, por otra parte, interesantes hallazgos de la simpática Shakespeare in Love fue articularla precisamente CASI como un juego especular de la encantadora Noche de epifanía (sin ir más lejos, cierra en pleno proceso creativo, escribiendo ESA obra en concreto).
RIP, Sir Pratchett.

AH!. Me alegra comprobar que no soy el único que aprecia esa película (Shakespeare in Love). La inepta dirección de Madden no logra arruinar el delicioso guión de Tom Stoppard (estupendo dramaturgo), cuyo texto resulta bastante más divertido e inteligente de lo que suele decirse.
PD: Branagh decía lo mismo respecto a "Trabajos de Amor Perdidos". Una comedia temprana del bardo, considerada por los académicos como una obra bastante irregular, pero que a el personalmente le encanta. El cabrón hizo un musical cinematográfico a partir de ella, homenajeando a los clásicos musicales de hollywood de los 40 y 50.

Julie Andrews era la actriz en la obra de teatro 'My fair lady',que tuvo gran éxito.Para la película eligieron a quien ya sabemos.Julie Andrews se quedo muy mal. Aguanto el golpe y la eligieron para 'Mary Poins' que al final le sirvio pa llevarse el oscar a la mejor actriz,en el mismo año que 'My fair lady'. Eran otros tiempos.

De todas formas dandole vueltas no entiendo la respuesta ni la reacción de Stone. Quiero decir literalmente: no había afán peyorativo alguno en la pregunta del periodista, ni agravio comparativo alguno en relación a Meryl Streep.
Vamos, que Stone debía de tener un mal día, y vio cosas donde no las había...

Efectivamente, Andrews tiene una laureada trayectoria también en el ámbito del teatro musical, y de hecho my fair lady (una adaptación musical bastante original de Pigmalión de Bernard Shaw), fue escrita por Loewe y Larner específicamente con ella en mente. Por supuesto sabe cantar, y muy bien.
Luego llegó la adaptación cinematográfica y pasó lo que pasó. En fin.

Lo curioso es que Sharon Stone tiene por ahí vídeos alabando a Bette Davis y era amiga personal de Jeanne Moreau, élla le entregó el Oscar honorífico. Quizá es que no siente por Streep el mismo valor o valía que sí en Davis o Moreau y se siente más próxima a éllas (yo no dudaría de eso, salvando las distancias, claro).

A Sharon Stone parece que le gustaba más la vieja guardia femenina del Hollywood de los años 30 y 40: Jean Harlow, Carole Lombard, Barbara Stanwyck, etc. y si sus influencias fueron ésas no acertó a integrarlas en su carrera con brillantez excepto en los casos que ya conocemos.
Y a nivel familiar parece que el COVID se ha cebado con élla; luego tiempos muy estresantes para la prota de Desafío Total.
Spoiler:
No lo sabía, pero yo me refería a que en aquella época también pasaba este tipo de cosas, pero de una forma más sutil y elegante, además de que no había respuesta y se evitaba entrar en peleas tipo Sálvame. Y el ejemplo perfecto es el de Julie Andrews que quedó solo en la puya en los oscars por Mary Poppins en vez de My fair lady.
