La productora Wild Bunch llevará el proyecto a Cannes para buscar distribución internacional.

Harmony Korine no regresará como director. Le sustituye Jonas Akerlund y el guión correrá a cargo de Irvine Welsh.

De momento no se sabe si el reparto de la primera entrega querrá repetir, y tampoco hay una sinopsis oficial. Sólo se sabe que las protagonistas de esta secuela se enfrentarán a una secta cristiana que quiere convertirlas.

No me convence nada este proyecto y no le veo sentido a que Harmony Korine no regrese. A mí Akerlund me hace gracia (Small Apartments me encanta), pero esto sin Harmony Korine es otra cosa; que se llamará igual, pero otra cosa.


Spring Breakers me parece de lo mejor del año pasado, así que preferiría que la dejaran tranquila y pararan ya con esta manía de las secuelas porque en esta película es completamente innecesario. Además, qué queréis, a mí el reparto original me parece que está muy acertado (sobre todo Ashley Benson, que está fantástica) y sabiendo que

Si se llega a realizar la veré porque tanto Irvine Welsh como Jonas Akerlund me gustan, pero preferiría que estuviera desvinculado de la película original. Y por ponerme a pedir, si hay alguien a quien me gustaría ver en el proyecto es a Juno Temple, que además ya ha trabajado con Akerlund y tiende a hacer películas de este corte (Kaboom de Gregg Araki, por ejemplo). Pero vamos, de momento interés cero y, como digo, proyecto totalmente innecesario.

¿De verdad los artífices de esta por así llamarla "secuela" entendieron la primera entrega?

Lo digo por lo de esta segunda que supongo no serán las mismas actrices. Si acaso algún que otro cameo de alguna actriz de la peli anterior. Ya me dirás...

Dudo que haya cameos. Los de la primera peli están MUY cabreados. Así que contando con que Rachel Korine es la mujer de Harmony Korine, ahí hay una que ya no vuelve. Y dada la buena relación entre todo el reparto, dudo mucho que Ashley Benson, Selena Gómez o Vanessa Hudgens quieran acercarse a esto.

The original was wholly Harmony's creation and these producers are capitalizing on that innovative film to make money on a weak sequel. I want everyone to know that whoever is involved in the sequel is jumping on board a poison ship. It will be a terrible film, with a horrible reason d'être: to make money off someone else's creativity. Can you imagine someone making the sequel to "Taxi Driver" without Scorcese and DeNiro's consents? Insanity! I'm speaking up for Harmony and his original vision and for any creative person who cares about preserving artistic integrity."

Vamos, que se hace sin el consentimiento de Harmony Korine, algo que básicamente ya se sabía.

Lo dije en mi primer mensaje: se llamará igual, pero esto será otra cosa. Me recuerda mucho a la secuela de Showgirls.

Y estoy con dawson, esta gente no entendió nada de la primera parte.

After the dustup over Franco’s Instagram attacks on the upcoming “Spring Breakers” sequel — which is happening without star Franco or director Harmony Korine — the producers of the new film are now dropping a bombshell on the already heated debate over artistic rights and creative intentions.

Franco may now have to tussle with no less a force for creative rights than Pussy Riot.

Performance artists Pussy Riot (a.k.a. Nadezhda “Nadya” Tolokonnikova and Maria “Masha” Alyokhina) are coming to Cannes this week to meet with “Spring Breakers: Second Coming” director Jonas Akerlund and producers Chris and Roberta Hanley, and Jordan Gertner. The political activists were jailed in their Russian homeland for two years after performing an anti-Putin punk prayer at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.

“Our director is coming in especially to meet Nadya and Maria to discuss being in the movie,” Chris Hanley told Variety. “The fiction of ‘Spring Breakers’ never met with the reality of Pussy Riots — until now.”

“Since there are some suggestions in the reporting on ‘Second Coming’ that it is a ‘weak’ or ‘lame’ sequel, the new Irvine Welsh screenplay has the strongest feminine voice of the ‘Spring Breakers’ characters so far. And Nadya and Maria of Pussy Riot are a powerful new voice of world feminism. We are all into radical innovations.”

Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina are scheduled to arrive with Cinema for Peace Foundation chairman Jaka Bizilj on May 22 for three days of meetings, which may also serve as a high-profile boost to Cannes Fest topper Thierry Fremaux’s efforts this year to see the fest raise the profiles of women artists. Fremaux has been widely criticized in past years over the paucity of female voices in the fest lineup.

Responding again to Franco’s assertions that the new project would be “horrible,” Hanley said “Pussy Riot somehow came into being concomitant with the original ‘Spring Breakers,’ which was pure coincidence. The original ‘Spring Breakers’ theme was the plying away of the facade of a new American dream of becoming rich by any means.”

“‘Second Coming’ addresses societal limitations, women having a voice to decide on the rights of their own bodies against moral limitations by religious, militant cult groups, in a spring break setting, where our ‘Spring Breakers’ girls take power into their own hands once again!”

Update:

‎To say the talks between Pussy Riot and the producers of “Spring Breakers: The Second Coming” are fluid ‎is like saying the Cannes Croisette movie seeing and selling scene is frenetic.

According to a source close to the film’s sales efforts, “As of today we are hoping that members of Pussy Riot will be able to attend Cannes this week, but their attendance has not been confirmed.”

The duo from the group has been working on a Cannes appearance to represent their efforts on behalf of artistic rights and to possibly engage in talks with director Akerlund about roles in “Second Coming,” but a source close to the Cinema for Peace organization, their patrons for the trip to the fest, now tells Variety, “Pussy Riot are not confirmed to attend.”

Cinema for Peace is an internationally recognized human rights and culture organization that annually hosts a starry gala in Berlin and flies the flag for global artists in high-profile settings like Cannes.

The source stresses “Cinema for Peace does not speak for Pussy Riot and has no involvement in this project.”‎

Variety‘s attempts to reach official representation for Pussy Riot have not produced a more definitive statement on their plans.

Yo respeto muchísimo a las Pussy Riot, pero no las veo en la película. Su causa es otra y la están defendiendo bien (con actos reivindicativos, el documental, el libro...). Han hecho llegar las injusticias y el descontento de gran parte de la sociedad rusa al mundo a través de otros métodos y espero que sigan en esa línea. No creo que pinten nada en esta secuela, sinceramente.

Selena Gómez ha estado con Harmony Korine, no sé si tendrá algo que ver con el proyecto.
