Tema: Peter Berg confirmado para DUNE

Score another one for the rumor mill: Peter Berg has been confirmed as the director of a new Dune.

Ain't It Cool News floated Berg's name back in October, but the first official word on the subject came from MTV Movies, where Berg was quoted as saying his involvement is "a done deal" and that "if it weren't for the writer's strike, we'd be in it right now."

Fan reaction to the Berg rumor was far from unanimously positive, but skeptics should be happy to hear that he calls himself a "huge fan of the book," and plans on making his Dune "big big big."

While waiting for the Dune script, Berg may wind up helming the oft-discussed Edwin A. Salt, the Tom Cruise spy thriller that's been waiting for a director for months.

With an average Tomatometer rating of 54%, Berg has shown a remarkable ability to wow the critics (Friday Night Lights, 82 percent) as well as annoy them (The Kingdom, 52 percent). David Lynch's take on the Frank Herbert books -- which Berg says "left the door wide open for a remake" -- divided critics, garnering a 63 percent Tomatometer rating. (Roger Ebert called it "a real mess, an incomprehensible, ugly, unstructured, pointless excursion into the murkier realms of one of the most confusing screenplays of all time.")

Yo no he visto Dune. Alguien me dijo que era super liosa y que era rayante a más no poder, que iba a perder el tiempo.

Bueno, es igual. Cuando la den algún día por el Digital Plus le echaré un vistacillo.

Puede ser interesante este proyecto... al menos a mí me llama la atención ya que considero Dune de David Lynch como una pequeña joya, una película que fue muy criticada y que el propio Lynch reniega de ella, aunque todo esto no hace más que aumentar la leyenda sobre ella. ;)

Hombre, cada uno emplea su tiempo como quiere, pero ver DUNE no seria la peor forma de perderlo - un film tan fascinante como irrregular.

perder el tiempo sería ver la espantosa versión larga que Lynch no quiso ni firmar.

'DUNE' de Lynch es una película irregular, pero es admirable lo bien que supo representar la misteriosa atmósfera de misticismo y psicodelia que rodea al original literario. Aunque luego falle en su parte más narrativa y épica, sí considero que goza del valor de haber sabido representar lo más difícil.

Y ahora a lo que vamos: la saga de DUNE (seis novelacas) tiene una enorme carga intelectual consistente en superlativas diquisiciones de religión, mesianismo, historia, filosofía, política y psicología, entre mucho más. Algo imposible de representar en cine, y sin lo cual 'Dune' se quedaría en nada, como pasó con las dos flojísimas miniseries del canal Sci-Fi. Tampoco entiendo a razón de qué cojones quieren incidir una vez más en esta historia; menudo afán de Kamikazes. Pero ese "big, big, big" dicho por el tal Peter Berg me suena a "vamos a hacer un Señor De Los Anillos" con Dune", lo cual ya me está dando repelús porque esto es antagónico con estos libros, que pedirían en todo caso a alguien en plan Tarkovski, o algo así. ¿Por qué DUNE una vez más? No lo entiendo.

Huelga decir que es mi saga literaria favorita y que... estoy ACOJONADO.
