The Bidlqualitaet of the Sony Vpl-vw100 impressed us, like hardly another before. The reason is completely simple: The projector has as well as no weaknesses. This begins with an unusually strong color representation, which comes the colors very close accustomed from the cinema. Here the used xenon technology makes itself without a doubt paid. With optimized color temperature and good gamma factory setting a picture depth on the canvas, which merges one in the middle in the wahrsten sense of the word into the happening, is offered. This is also no miracle, because
with contrast values from 3000:1 to 17000:1 the Ruby belongs to one of the contrast-strongest projectors, which were ever built.
Dark scenes show a Plastiztaet by the outstanding schwarzwert and the good Durchzeichnung, like otherwise only tube projectors.
At the same time the projector is however in bright scenes so bright that also field recordings work reliably illuminated. It already is impressing, as the LCOS technology developed owing to Sony in record time of one of the contrast-weakest technologies to one the strongest.

But thus the VW100 does not have enough, as one of the first projectors at the market the full HDTV dissolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Thus it is able to produce an unusual detail loyalty both with DVD and with HDTV. Particularly with the latter it becomes fast clear that opposite 720p almost the doubling forward brings again a clear thrust to the dissolution. With Full hp material disappears the last artificial lack of sharpness on the canvas. A particularly beautiful side effect of the SXRD technology is those pixel structure practically any longer existente. All pixels are so small and closely next to each other that they are not recognizable already from short viewing distances any more for the eye. Which is an image definition, which results only from details, remains, not however by artificial demarcations as with other technologies. So some untrained eye feels this as "more softly", but who saw once a sharp 70mm copy in the cinema and good HDTV material on the Ruby, it recognizes fast that the natural sharpness giving of LCOS projectors the cinema original and the reality with distance comes next.

Besides lends being omitted all digital artifacts (
no noise in the dark, no False Contour, no rainbow effect etc..) the picture a peace, which recompences the eye by more homogeneity and naturalness. Click on the respective picture for enlargement!!
Face these whole advantages easy inaccuracies in the pixel convergence, illuminating of black and minimum Shading. They offer still another little Potenzial for improvement, then stands (nearly) to the perfect picture nothing more in the way. As picture result remains only: The Sony Ruby before hardly approaches to perfect the home cinema picture, like another projector. become.
