A few weeks back Rob Zombie announced that he will be directing a new horror film for Dimension Films entitled Tyrannosaurus Rex, which is NOT about dinosaurs. We were intrigued so we did some serious digging and have finally discovered the basic premise (with some minor details still missing). Read on to see what Rob Zombie's T-REX is about!

A regular scooper tipped us off, and it was confirmed that T-REX is about a wrestler named Tyrannosaurus Rex who is on the run from a biker gang from hell. Furthermore, the idea for the film is loosely based on the comic book Zombie did with Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) entitled THE NAIL. Here's the synopsis:

Hunted in one of the most desolate regions of America, preyed upon by an evil that does not sleep, Rex Hauser is The Nail - and it's time he took a stand. A semi-pro wrestler, Hauser has been touring the country performing at small-time arenas until the fateful night he and his family run afoul of a bloodthirsty gang of Satanic bikers stalking the North Dakota Badlands. Now he's a lone man fighting for the survival of his loved ones in a no-holds-barred standoff against the forces of Hell itself! Co-written by the newly formed CREEP International writing team of modern horror masters Rob Zombie and Steve Niles, The Nail is a relentless, unflinching portrait of the heart of darkness, and what one man will sacrifice to hold it at bay.

The film is slated for release August 28, 2009.

Se comento en el hilo de "Werewolf Women of the SS" que esto parecía algo rollo Tarantino o "El clavo" (THE NAIL ) y parece por ahí van los tiros.




Por cierto, ya suenan algunos nombres para el reparto: Sheri Moon, Brian Cox, Dee Wallace,... Aunque hasta finales de año no empieza su rodaje.

Ya se está liando... Desde luego en internet no se puede creer nada...

UPDATE: There's a supposed "official" Myspace page for the film where Rob Zombie (if it's really him) writes "Not sure how this all started , but this film is not based on a comic book called The Nail. If fact I haven't told anybody what this film is yet." So either one of three things happened: 1: Rob is lying per usual (like when he told DreadCentral that he was in fact directing CHUD, which was BS) 2: The Zombie camp is lying to me 3: Rob changed the story enough to where it's not based on THE NAIL anymore. I guess only time will tell who is bullsh-tting who, but I can tell you this much - I'm getting pretty fed up with all of this lying, semantics and lack of communication that always seems to come with a Rob Zombie movie.

Por el momento sabemos que:

1)No es una película ambientada en la prehistoria con dinosaurios ni tampoco una aventura 4x4 tipo "Jurassic Park".

2)No es una biografía de la estrella del glam rock de los 70 Marc Bolan, líder del grupo "T-Rex".

3)No es el título en clave de "Werewolf Women of the SS", contemplada por Zombie como su siguiente proyecto y al final descartada.

Habrá que esperar para saber si finalmente es la adaptación del cómic "The Nail"...

"El clavo" mola bastante, pero no la veo adaptada a cine.Habría que hacer una historia más grande.

During an interview on Maximum Threshold Radio, Sheri Moon Zombie confirmed that she will have a role in Rob Zombie's Tyrannosaurus Rex, which is slated for an August 2009 release through Dimension Films. When asked if it will be a horror flick she replied, "No, it's not a horror flick." When pushing for any sort of lead they asked her if it'll be an epic '70s type flick, to which she replied, "It, it may be..." Watch for more news as it develops. Yo creo que está planteado a la medida de su director: chicas explosivas, motoristas satánicos, palabras malsonantes, calaveras, demonios,...

El comic apesta a peli por todos los lados.
En la versión española hay una presentación escrita por el luchador de lucha libre que interpreta al hermano "raro" de los Firefly, no recuerdo si llegó a salir en los Renegados, creo que se llama Rufus.Sale al principio de "La casa de los 1000 cadaveres", cuando llegan a la casa.Comenta que escribió el comic pensando en él y que si hace algún día una adaptación a cine le gustaría protagonizarla.

Pues teniendo en cuenta que Mane aparece como segundo nombre (aunque no necesariamente deba significar nada), y que este hombre fue wrestler durante muchos años, antes de ser actor... Huele mucho a El Clavo...

Una imagen muy sugerente, parece que Zombie sigue fiel a su estilo años 70. Cada vez se parece más a una adaptación de THE NAIL, aunque el teaser pueda recordar a "Machete" o cualquiera película sobre sectas satánicas tipo Charles Manson. Del trío de actores veo claramente a Sheri Moon, pero los dos restantes no sé quienes podrían ser. El del centro podría ser Danny Trejo, aunque también se apuntaba la presencia de Tyler Mane. El afroamericano podría ser Ken Foree (otro de los habituales de Zombie), aunque Samuel L. Jackson podría encarnarlo perfectamente. Todo son conjeturas hasta que sepamos algo claro...
