AUG. 2 | Toshiba will reportedly roll out its line of third-generation HD DVD players, all priced at less than $500, this October, according to retailers.
The consumer electronics company will introduce the HD-A3 priced at $299, the HD-A30 priced at $399 and the top-line HD A-35 for $499 in October, according to one electronics retailer.
Amazon began taking pre-orders on the players today but stopped and pulled the pages after the information was picked up by blog Format War Central.
Toshiba hasn’t commented on the reports of the new line of players.
One retailer told VB that Toshiba plans to offer promotional pricing sporadically in the fourth quarter, which will drop prices to $199 to further drive sales.
Toshiba is expected to announce full details at consumer electronics trade show CEDIA next month.
