parece que Ex-machina ha hecho que Garland, creo que muy merecidamente, reciba mucha atención.

Ojalá se cumpla, me encantó "Ex-machina", Garland maneja muy buenas referencias dentro del mundo de la ciencia-ficción y el cine fantástico, pero es que su labor tras las cámaras no está exenta de elogio, lo hace bien, realmente bien.


NOTA: Yo hubiese fichado a este tipo para Jurassic World, no sé porqué, le veo encajando y captando la esencia de las historias de M.Crichton.

Alex Garland ha estado haciendo esta semana una ronda de entrevistas con motivo del lanzamiento en dvd/BD de "Ex Machina", y ha hecho algún que otro comentario sobre este su próximo film. Por sus declaraciones, parece que va a tener un tono mucho más "loco" que su ultima peli:

The movie of Annihilation, by contrast, “is not doing that. This is not tightly adhering to the beats of the novel in the same way,” said Garland. “It’s a looser adaptation,” although “the basic precepts” are still there. “Let me put it this way: If you saw the film, you’d know what it was based on. I can say that. But that’s presumptuous of me—if I get to make the film, and you saw the film, and you’d read the book, you’d say, ‘This is based on Annihilation.’ So it’s not that loose.” But it’s not as close a copy as Never Let Me Go was, he added.

The one I'm working on now is definitely in the adrenaline-ized mode. The film I'm trying to make at the moment is based on a novel by Jeff VanderMeer and it's called Annihilation. It's in the sort of darker, stranger, propulsive space. It's more like Dredd and 28 Days Later. Never Let Me Go and Ex Machina basically are reflective, quiet, talky movies, and this has some of the same sort of propulsion, I'd say, of 28 Days and some of the hallucinogenic aspects of Dredd, but they're way more ramped up. Way, way more ramped up.

No hay anuncio oficial de reparto todavía, pero esperemos que se cumplan las informaciones de hace meses. La idea de una expedición femenina, adentrándose en ese misterioso lugar, desconocido y peligroso, tiene un potencial enorme.

Según Garland, el film podría empezar a rodarse en abril de 2016.
