No tengo la pelicula, pero de momento a tenor de las capturas ampliadas que ha puesto Roy, no veo duda de que la imagen no está a la altura de lo que debería.
Eso si, cuando me la compre igual disfruto como un enano, cuando la vea por mi tele, pero de momento esto es lo que hay.
Las capturas de Roy se ven bastante mal y la verdad a mi no me dio esa sensación cuando la vi en la 90" hará unos meses. Cuando pueda la vuelvo ha echar un vistazo y ya comento.

Clarity, sharpness and detail are excellent, and the blacks are generally solid, except for a few nighttime sequences, where Rosson's lighting renders some of the shadows indistinct (as Peter Bogdanovich notes in his commentary, these issues exist in the original photography). Colors are vivid and saturated, including Wayne's trademark red and blue shirts, Maudie's often colorful wardrobe and the greens of the outdoor vegetation.
Some grain reduction has been performed on the image, rendering its appearance a little less film-like and somewhat more like a contemporary production finished in a digital intermediate. This isn't to say that there's no grain in the image; it's there if you look closely. But the image has a shine that brings it a little closer to video than film. Any degraining software has been applied with a light hand, resulting in no evident loss of detail and none of the waxy or artificial look that has resulted in a few famous travesties. Also, there is no indication of any artificial sharpening, which, in my experience, frequently creates more serious artifacts than degraining. All but the most critical eyes will probably have no complaints about this presentation, once it is seen in motion.

This transfer has crossed my personal threshold for being distracting in the 1080P presentation. I found characters occasionally looking like cardboard cutouts and unnaturally flat with not enough texture. Yes, I have certainly seen worse and I'm sure there are plenty of individuals who aren't as bothered by the over-processed visuals as I am. What can I tell you? This is dual-layered with a max'ed out bitrate in the 1.78:1 aspect ratio. Colors look great and there is no noise. Daylight scenes can be most impressive. This Blu-ray video may satisfy some but those sensitive to EE will probably be cringing as much as I was. I will try to obtain the European release, which I presume is also region FREE, and do a full comparison.

Far better looking than Hatari!, and with a bit of digital work that doesn't appear to have been necessary, Howard Hawks' second to final work, El Dorado (1966), is a fun experience in the Hawks / Wayne canon.
Color and sharpness are generally superb, along with a quality densities and black levels. Seems lit up like a whore house on the 4th of July, but that may be the way it was originally shot.
A quality film, with young James Caan in a fun role playing the young 'un to Mr. Wayne's older gunfighter, and Mr. Mitchum around to trade barbs. A treat.

Si un 4 sobre 5 fue la puntuación que me pareció que tenia cuando la vi, desde luego en ningun momento tuve la sensación de que era un trabajo de referencia pero coño esas capturas que ha puesto Roy parecen de dvd. De todas formas ya digo que quiero volver a verla para asegurarme.
Cierto, Jmac. Hay que verla en la pantalla de uno. Y ahí la vista de cada uno es la que vale.
Veo que la edición española no trae extra alguno que acompañe la película. ¿Hay alguna otra edición con idioma castellano y con extras? Gracias
Estoy viendo en la ficha de Amazon.com correspondiente a la edición norteamericana que parece que EL DORADO incluye spanish en idiomas y subtítulos.

Ya tengo la edición UK y los extras sólo están subtitulados en inglés. No entiendo cómo hacen estas barbaridades, máxime cuando, al parecer, en la edición especial en dvd esos mismos extras sí estaban subtitulados en español. En fin.
