Tercera jornada del festival, y ahi van las reviews de las películas de la sección oficial...

-Ma Loute (Slack Bay), de Bruno Dumont.

El realizador galo es la tercera vez que participa en la sección oficial, En esta ocasión, la película adopta un tono de comedia loca. Ambientada en la primera decada del siglo XX. el film narra las vicisitudes de varios turistas desaparecidos en un zona costera, y la investigación de dos inspectores, adentrándose en esa comunidad formada en su mayoría por pescadores. La película ha sido muy divisiva:

El veterano realizador británico vuelve por decimotercera vez al festival con esta propuesta, que gira en torno a un veterano carpintero que, tras enfermar, deberá solicitará ayuda al Estado. El hombre conoce en esa tesitura a una madre soltera, también con problemas, compartiendo los dos un dificil viaje para poder conseguir tan ansiadas ayudas. Ha sido bien recibida, aunque con las inevitables criticas hacia el maniqueismo con que su director adorna casi todas sus obras:

-Mademoiselle (The Handmaiden), de Park Chan-Wook.

En la que es su tercera participación en el festival galo, el realizador surcoreano adapta la novela Falsa identidad de Sarah Waters, trasladando eso sí la acción a la Corea de la decada de los 30 durante la invasión japonesa. La peli narra la oscura relación que hay entre una rica heredera y su criada, que pretende conducirle a un matrimonio con un falso conde que tiene la intención de ingresarle en un psiquiátrico para quedarse con su dinero. El film ha tenido una respuesta algo irregular, aunque la critica ha destacado la delicada puesta en escena y a los actores:

La directora germana Maren Ade debuta en el festival con este film en clave de comedia, que narra la relación entre Inès, una ejecutiva absolutamente estresada por su trabajo, y su padre, que quiere recuperarla experimentando con un juego. Ha tenido una buena acogida en general, aunque sus casi tres horas de duración se han hecho algo pesadas para algunos criticos. Sus protagonistas, Peter Simonischek y Sandra Hüller, suenan ya como candidatos a los premios interpretativos:

-Mi amigo el gigante, de Steven Spielberg.

Sin duda una de las películas más esperadas del festival, Mi amigo el gigante, la adaptación del libro El gran gigante bonachón de Roald Dahl, relata la historia de Sophie, una huérfana que iniciará una amistad con un asombroso gigante que le llevará a su mundo para que no le delate. El film de Spielberg, que se estrenará el 1 de Julio en Estados Unidos, ha sido recibida con corrección, pero sin grandes entusiamos. Aun así, Spielberg encandila y cumple con el espectáculo, destacandose sobre todo la interpretación (vía motion capture), del oscarizado Mark Rylance:

Hoy ha sido un buen día, pero mañana me apetece especialmente. A ver cómo cala Julieta en Cannes. Cruzo los dedos.

Una ración de críticas. Veo por las redes muy buenas críticas para la propuesta de Jarmusch, Paterson (por ahora un 9,8 en rotten :wtf), para Loving, de quien J.A. Bayona dice que Es imposible no pensar que Loving será un clásico mientras uno la ve. Qué peso, delicadeza, contundencia

Y también muy buenas críticas para una fuera de concurso, The nice guys, la de Gosling y Crowe (un 8,6 en rotten).

La realizadora gala adapta en esta ocasión la novela de Milena Agus, en la que se cuenta la historia de una joven (Marion Cotillard), que es obligada a contraer matrimonio con un temporero (Àlex Brendemühl). Ella padece una enfermedad renal y tendrá que pasar una temporada en un balneario en donde conocerá a Gabrielle (Louis Garrel), un militar enfermo. Ha sido muy pobremente recibida:

-American Honey, de Andrea Arnold.

La realizadora británica, ganadora del Oscar por el cortometraje Wasp, presentó ayer American Honey, su primera producción estadounidense. Basicamente es una road movie con la debutante Sasha Lane como protagonista principal. Ella interpreta a una joven que deja atrás a toda su familia para unirse a un grupo que recorre el país para vender suscripciones de revistas. Coprotagonizada por Shia LaBeouf y Riley Keough, el film parece ser un cruce entre Spring Breakers y Bonnie & Clyde, pero con una gran carga sexual. Ha tenido una acogida muy desigual:

Una de las películas más esperadas del festival, el último film del realizador de Mud relata la historia real de una pareja interracial en la Virginia de la década de los 50, en plena época de segregación racial. Richard y Mildred, interpretados por Joel Edgerton y Ruth Negga, se saltarán la ley para vivir su amor y formar una familia. Este caso sentó jurisprudencia y acabaría provocando un cambio en la Constitución norteamericana. Ha tenido una gran acogida, y los actores han sido muy elogiados:

Jim Jarmusch no necesita a estas alturas presentación. Con una longeva trayectoria, el director americano presenta en esta ocasión una historia sobre un hombre corriente. Adam Driver es un conductor de autobuses que vive con una mujer obsesionada con el blanco y negro, que se ha empeñado en decorar su vida bajo esa influencia, y con un bulldog inglés. El film sigue el día a día del protagonista con aspiraciones de ser poeta a lo largo de una semana. Ha tenido también una buena acogida, elogiandose sobre todo la gran interpretación de Driver:

Pues parece que ha habido un pase esta noche de Personal Shopper, y la cosa no ha ido demasiado bien. Se dice que Kristen Stewart se salva, pero la película de Assayas ha sido abucheada.
