Thursday, January 12, 2006 - 8:21 AM, 3:58 PM, 6:31 PM, 8:50 PM, 9:15 PM CENTRAL TIME: With today's news, I shot a few emails out to people I trust. One returned my email with the following:
"Bill, except for The Joker and Dent, it is a fluid situation right now."
The bottom line is that there's a lot of "What about 'so-and-so' for 'such-and-such' role?" So as my source said -- and as I've emailed many of you BOF'ers -- it is a "fluid" situation. Man, this is going to be good I predict...
UPDATE: One of my most trusted insiders tells me the following: "The rumors regarding plot and casting you have been reporing prior to today is what you and your readers should focus on. FYI, my friend." There you have that. I'm just doing my best here to keep it all in check...
According to my friends over at MOVIEHOLE.NET, a "femme fatale...with a very close connection with a major character [in BEGINS]...will be out for revenge against Bruce Wayne and Gotham." My first thought on this one: Talia Al Ghul. As far as who may nab the role, Clint's source says:
"...let’s just say that she is nominated for a SAG, a Golden Globe and is on her way to an Oscar nomination as well. She is also in fact five months pregnant...."
Rachel Weisz. I think.
And it seems that Nolan, Warner Bros., and company may actually be looking for a "name" star/actor in the role of The Joker. Here's what Clint's source had to say:
"As you know, there are many actors who want the chance to do this character (The most requested Batman character next to Batman himself.) The studio is eyeing a major, major actor and Christopher Nolan himself is said to be just as excited as they are in nabbing him for the role. Who is he? Let’s just say that he has a major film coming out this summer and it’s a sequel to one of his biggest hits."
Johnny Depp. I've heard this one before, but I pulled his name from the "potential Joker" list. Frankly, while I feel an "unknown" would be best, Depp -- whom I love as an actor -- would be the one "big name" I could see in the role. My criteria for The Joker is that the actor needs to just disappear into the role. Depp would do this, no doubt. I smell an op-ed on this in the future (Thanks to all the BOF'ers who sent in the lead)...
