Tras 12 años de laboriosa búsqueda, Shout Factory ha localizado los elementos originales de la tercera entrega de los muertos vivientes de Romero, que se creían perdidos hace décadas.
Se está procediendo a su escaneado y restauración de cara a su próxima edición en UHD por su 40º aniversario
A 4K release of Day of the Dead has been a long time coming – it's been 12 years since the studio's official Blu-ray release, and for a while it seemed as if the original negative of the film was lost to time forever. But thanks to Scream Factory and Shout Studios efforts, Romero's rotters will soon be resurrected in glorious high-definition, with the care and craftsmanship it has long deserved.
Per Jeff Roland, Producer & Manager of Video Production at Shout!:
“I was ecstatic after finally locating it and can’t wait to begin the restoration process so this all-time classic can finally be presented in all of its gory glory. I would like to acknowledge the following people who helped along the way: Jessica Ronderos and Chad Wiley of Deluxe, Steve Johnson, Ashley Franks-McGill and Jeffrey Flam of Duplitech, Diane Levine of Lionsgate, and Debbie Zamiska of Fotokem.”
The Day of the Dead restoration news lines up nicely with the recent confirmation that Tom Savini's Romero remake, Night of the Living Dead, is also soon shuffling onto 4K with an uncut release.
