Esta semana, en el Consumer Electronics Show de Las Vegas this week, se espera que prácticamente todos los estudios anuncien la primera lista de títulos que saldrán al mercado en disco de alta definición en 2006. Se esperan más de 75 películas y series de televisión, nuevas y antiguas, junto con la introducción del primer reproductor, a los que seguirán decenas o incluso centenares para final de año.
Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, el estudio que más se juega con su formato de Blu-ray Disc format, es el más enérgico, con planes para hacer coincidir el día del estreno en cines de la película Underworld Evolution con el lanzamiento en disco de dicha película, a finales de primavera o principio del verano. El martes, los estudios no quisieron confirmar la exactitud de esos títulos.

Feingold, today announced the company's initial 20 titles for release on the next-generation, high-definition Blu-ray Disc format. The slate of Blu-ray titles from SPHE and MGM Home Entertainment will be released in conjunction with hardware manufacturers' delivery of the first Blu-ray Disc products at retail.
