Sounds to me like Julian McMahon is under serious consideration to be cinema's next James Bond.

The "Nip/Tuck" star was rumoured to be in the running for the 007 series a couple of months back, but the news surfaced at a time when every man and his woofer was up for the role of the Brit spy. Alas, we essentially brushed the whisper off.

IESB had the chance to ask McMahon - on the set of "The Fantastic Four" - about those rumours though, and from the sounds of it, he's been told to keep his gob zipped for a reason. “Unfortunately, it’s something I really can’t talk about,” McMahon said. However, he continued in a way that suggested he really was talking to somebody. “We’ll see what happens in regards to that but they’ve obviously got an extraordinary franchise which I’d be honored to be involved in at any point in time. We’ll see what happens.”<hr></blockquote>

In a previous article talking about how Pierce Brosnan confirmed his 007 days are over, we mentioned that the actor did have someone in mind who would be a perfect replacement. He wouldn't reveal who that was, but he saw him in a recent movie and was impressed. "He had a presence: Face, body, voice, the eyes. He would make a good one," said Brosnan.

Now, according to the Associated Press, it's become clear that Brosnan was referring to fellow Irishman Colin Farrell. He said several actors could ably fill his shoes as Bond.

"But I'll give it to Colin Farrell. He'll eat the head off them all," Brosnan said following an entertainment awards ceremony Saturday in Dublin. Brosnan didn't specify any other actors that he thought would make a good 007.

He also said he was discussing a possible collaboration with director Quentin Tarantino, who is considering making a film of the Bond novel Casino Royale.<hr></blockquote>

Espero que acierten con la elección, que yo veo muy difícil. Bond tiene que ser un tío con encanto, sotisficado y duro cuando las circunstancias lo requieran..., y no es fácil dar con un actor así.

Bush may be back in the egg-coloured mansion, but there's still one more important election to go : The race for 007.

First, the good news. Long-time contender Hugh Jackman has finally admitted that he is interested.

Whether that's got something to do with the cold-as-ice reception "Van Helsing" got at cinemas, we don't know, but talking to FemaleFirst, the likeable Aussie actor finally confirmed that he would probably jump at a chance to don the Tux, bed the ladies and bicker with Q.

"There is something very secretive about the way they cast that role", says Jackman.

"I've never had an official call asking: 'Are you interested or not?' But there's no guy I know who wouldn't want that role- and that includes me. Anyone who says otherwise is lying."

According to News24.com, there's another contender for the gig : P.Diddy.

Yep, that's not a customary Clint typo, you read right, the ex-Puffy wants a stab at playing James Bond.

"The world is ready for a black James Bond", says the music artist.

Reminds me of a time, about ten years ago, when they started to talk 'female James Bond' with Sharon Stone atop of a rumoured contender list.

It seems Julian McMahon is off James Bond 21 before anyone really knew he was on it. According to the Sunday Herald Sun, McMahon's mother, Lady Sonia McMahon, spoke to guests at the Melbourne Cup's Moet & Chandon and mentioned that his Julesy-poo bear had been offered the role of 007 but he declined due to the humiliation of being called poo bear by his mom in front of hundreds of people. Another person we can scratch off the list is Colin Farrell. The now officially former super spy Pierce Brosnan had said that Farrell would be perfect to take up the role of Bond but Farrell recently shot back a resounding "no, not at all" when asked if he'd be interested in taking up the role. He further mentioned that Brosnan had really "f*cked me on this". How Brosnan managed to do that, I don't know. Not to worry, though, we still have Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor, Orlando Bloom, Dougray Scott and many others out in the living room bending spoons.<hr></blockquote>

Yes Brosnan will not be returning but MGM and producers are still forging ahead with the 21st BOND film (if you didn't know but the endless stream of replacement rumors). Unfortunately they're not entertaining the idea of having Quentin Tarantino direct (which he offered to do) but have instead turned to Martin Campbell, who directed GOLDENEYE, to return to the franchise. Campbell is currently filming the ZORRO sequel with Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. He would then segue into BOND 21 with MGM looking to have the film ready for 2006. The script for the 21st film, by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (DIE ANOTHER DAY), is finished but is being kept under wraps. This film reportedly harkens back to earlier Bond films and strays from the FX heavy flicks of late.<hr></blockquote>

Now here's a shocker.

According to a report on the CommanderBond.net website, Pierce Brosnan may be back in talks for Bond.

Despite being thrown on his rear by EON, a fan-club newsletter suggests that Brosnan - who was apparently, and understandably, quite cheesed when he was shown the door from the series, if only because he resurrected the fledging series with 1995's "Goldeneye" - might be in discussions to return to the role.

"Although the media reports that Pierce has had enough of the ongoing Bond debate and ruled himself out - I have heard rumours that some further negotiations may have just taken place and he may still be back for the new film due for release in 2006", says the latest newsletter from the James Bond International Fan Club. "Don't rule him out just yet - that's all I can say on the subject!".

One might speculate that they're going to get Pierce back for the rumoured remake of "Casino Royale" before he hands over the keys to the Aston Martin. After all, it was his (and Quentin Tarantino's) suggestion.

A month or so ago we heard from an insider who told us that Ioan Gruffudd ["The Fantastic Four"] was the current frontrunner.

Campbell Set & Butler Keen on 007
CommanderBond.Net reports that while it's yet to be officially announced, they've learned that Martin Campbell has agreed to return to the series to direct Bond 21. "It's a done deal," says a source familiar with the negotiations. Campbell's 1995 "GoldenEye" is what many consider the best Bond film of the Brosnan era, and one that is credited with "reviving" the James Bond franchise after its late 80's/early 90's stalling with Timothy Dalton.

Campbell is currently in post-production on "The Legend of Zorro" and will then likely move onto Bond 21 as his next project which would set things for a January '06 production start. It's still unclear is whether Pierce Brosnan will return (there is a hot rumour that Brosnan is back in talks) or if Eon and Campbell will go ahead with plans to introduce a "younger" 007.

Whilst the likes of Clive Owen, Colin Farrell, Eric Bana and Julian McMahon who've all been mentioned for the role have stated in interviews they wouldn't do the part, one of the oft mentioned candidates (and my personal second fave choice for the role after Owen) revealed this weekend he'd be keen on the idea.

In a recent Sunday Telegraph article, 35-year-old Scottish actor Gerard Butler ("Timeline", "Reign of Fire", "Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life") who can currently be seen playing the title character in the film version of "The Phantom of the Opera", said he "would not object if offered the role" and went on almost happily about it - "I think I would accept...If I do say so myself, I think I would make a great James Bond...and it's a hard one to ignor because we - all of the potential actors for James Bond - are in the same situation as me".

Scottish McCann Fave For 007
MI6 has revealed that final screentesting is underway to cast the role of the sixth James Bond, and a Scottish actor is head of the queue.

The casting company who worked on the past three Pierce Brosnan outings along with Eon Productions, are apparenly in the final stages of deciding the role of 007 and 6' 6" Scottish actor Rory McCann is considered to be the top choice of producers. Contrary to most media reports it seems, the producers are looking for a relative unknown take over from Brosnan, and McCann is the current front runner.

Mcann was last seen as Crateros, one of Alexander the Great's advisors in Stone's "Alexander" epic. He also recently starred in such films as the Ewan McGregor thriller "Young Adam", the TV movie "Peter the Great", horror thriller "The Devil's Tattoo", the acclaimed British mini-series "State of Play", and the upcoming Gerard Butler-led adaptation of "Beowulf & Grendel". His TV credits include "The Book Group", "Rockface" and "Monarch of the Glen

Y esta mañana, en corazon de primavera ha salido Clive Owen en un estreno diciendo q Iba a estar "ocupado" proximamente. Y le han preguntado: "haciendo de Bond, James Bond?" Y se ha sonreido y ha dicho: Voy a estar "muy ocupado".

Implicitamente estaba dando a entender q será el próximo James Bond.

A mi me molaría. Es una buena elección.
