Uno de los melodramas más bellos de los años '40: HOLD BACK THE DAWN (1941, SI NO AMANECIERA) de Mitchell Leisen (otro pedazo de director, digan lo que digan genios del talento de Preston Sturges y Billy Wilder).

Olivia de Havilland as an infant, with her father, Walter A. de Havilland, her mother, Lilian de Havilland (later Fontaine) and two Japanese nurses. Olivia was born in Japan, where her father had a patent law practice.
October 10, 1934: The cast of A Midsummer Night’s Dream gather together with Warner Brothers executives. Olivia de Havilland, Mickey Rooney, Dick Powell, and James Cagney are the players in the broadcast.
1938: Actors Errol Flynn and 22-year-old Olivia de Havilland embrace in a still from The Adventures of Robin Hood.
1939: Actresses Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Havilland and Hattie McDaniel play the roles of Scarlett O’Hara, Melanie Hamilton and Mammy, respectively, in a scene from the movie Gone With the Wind by Victor Fleming.
1940: British-American motion picture actress Olivia de Havilland.
In 1945, Olivia de Havilland began filming the drama, To Each His Own, about an unwed mother who gives up her child for adoption and then spends the rest of her life trying to undo that decision. The role required de Havilland to age nearly thirty years over the course of the film — from an innocent, small-town girl to a shrewd, ruthless businesswoman devoted to her cosmetics company. Her performance earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress in 1946 — her first Oscar. The award “represented a vindication of de Havilland’s long struggle with Warner Bros. and confirmation of her abilities as an actress.”
Olivia de Havilland tries to escape from a hellish mental institution in the 1948 film The Snake Pit.
March 25, 1950: Actress Olivia de Havilland proudly displays her second Oscar, awarded for her performance as the Best Actress of 1949 for her role in The Heiress. Miss de Havilland also won top honors in 1946.

"There’s this misconception these days that a thematic score means a dated-sounding score. This, of course, is a cop out. There’s no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater. The art of composing modern scores is the having the skill set to keep motifs alive while being relevant. But too many times, newer composers have no idea what fully developed themes are because they grew up on scores that are nothing more than ostinatos and “buahs.”

Como estoy perdido por las selvas amazónicas de la Bizkaia profunda es todo un detalle que el amigo tomaszapa haya tomado el testigo.
Y reivindicar LO QUE EL VIENTO SE LLEVÓ como una de las grandes cimas del cine (y no sólo de Hollywood) de todos los tiempos.

Y pese a que hizo esta película con desgana y obligada en 1943 (Government Girl, de Dudley Nichols) su vis cómica y su propensión a descalzarse en el film fue bien patente; luego llegó su litigio para conseguir su libertad:
