The grandaddy of all fantasy films, Warner Home Video will release the classic 1933 King Kong on November 22nd. Featuring a newly restored and digitally mastered transfer from the rare nitrate film elements, the big ape will be available as a two-disc special edition packed with extras. Mientras los derechos sean de Manga films, lo dudo mucho.
Lo mismo pasa con la E.E de Ciudadano Kane editada en Z1 por Warner, que por aquí ni la hemos visto y parece que va para largo el que la veamos.

Cada poco siempre me tropiezo con ellos: ediciones chapuzas, otras que tienen los derechos y no las sacan, otras que retrasan una y otra vez...

Si algo bueno tienen los remakes, es que sirven para que salgan EE de las clásicas... Le tengo muchas ganas a ésta y a la EE de La Guerra de los Mundos...

* Featurette 1: "Stop-Motion Wizardry" (approx. 15 mins) - A documentary on how stop-motion animation breakthroughs were achieved on "King Kong". This will be demonstrated using original and replica armatures of Kong and the dinosaurs. This edited piece would include interviews with film historians, visual effects artists and animators, voice-over narration, stills, and a demo done by "The Lord of the Rings" Animation Supervisor Randy Cook and stop-motion legend Ray Harryhausen. The second part is Peter Jackson and his team taking on the job of recreating it (interviews, etc.), Weta studying the only existing photos to build the spiders and miniature environments, the NZ Miniatures Dept. shooting the sets and skilled stop-motion animators bringing the creatures to life. Finally, the third section and pay-off is the recreation cut together with sound effects and Max Steiner music.

* Featurette 3: "Where is Kong Today?" (approx. 8 mins) - This documentary takes viewers on a quest to find the original Kong. We'll track down artifacts left at the old RKO lot in Culver City and be given an exclusive tour by Peter Jackson of his personal collection of hundreds of models, maquettes, glass paintings, and... Kong himself.

Es curioso Diodati el tema de la edición de Manga, fué precisamente esta la que me hizo "actualizarme" y comprar un reproductor DVD, en aquellos tiempos me parecio una maravilla, claro no sabia nada de ediciones restauradas ni cantidad de cosas que he ido aprendiendo en este "diabólico" foro.... Thecrusher, a mí me sucedió algo parecido. Pero cuando usé la proyección en pantalla grande (3,5 m de ancha) cantaba más que un jilguero. Algunas pasan la prueba del televisor, pero en cuestión de proyección a mayor escala... "sólo el penitente pasará". :))

PS: ¿Con la mano de Peter Jackson de por medio creeis que esto quedará inédito por un problema de derechos de Manga? Capaces son de editar aparte el documental.

Aqui se esta hablando mucho que si cajitas, que si extras, y creo que nos estamos olvidando de lo mas importante.

¿Alguien tiene imagenes sobre como ha quedado la restauración y como estaba antes de esta?

A falta de confirmación, si Warner mantiene el nivel de otras restauraciones de clásicos, la calidad está garantizada...

Sin ir más lejos, el documental del segundo disco de la EE de Citizen Kane, está subtitulado al inglés, así que nunca se sabe.

Algo me dice que esta maravilla terminará saliendo en zona 2. Pero en mi caso me ocurrirá igual que los Legacys de la Universal, que al final, sin saber cómo, me he encontrado con las dos ediciones. Cosas... :?

Lo que es seguro es que de salir aquí, será sin lata... Y que salga no está nada claro porque si Manga tiene los derechos de la peli, no creo que Warner le venda los derechos de los extras y documentales... Y de todas formas como Manga sólo gasta calderilla para comprar ediciones, tampoco creo que tenga intenciones de pagar por ellos....

Tambien estan anunciadas en Play (King Kong: Special Edition y King Kong Box Set) para quien prefiera PAL o no tenga multizona, eso si, casi seguro que sin subtitulos en español.

Que salga aqui o no solo dependera de quien tenga los derechos sobre la pelicula. Si Manga los pierde o caducan, o sea lo que sea que pase con los derechos de las pelicula, Warner deberia aprovechar la ocasion. Algo me dice que no ocurrira nada de eso :(

Si Manga pierde los derechos Warner la sacará seguro, aprovechando el tirón del remake de Jackson. Si no los pierde, Manga es capaz de reeditar la edición vieja sin restaurar, conociendo su habitual incompetencia...

Visto lo comentado, se me presenta la gran duda de: ¿qué compro? Al final me veo con la súper-extraordinaria edición y, además, las otras películas sueltas. Vaya tela. Y creo que no seré el único. Bueno, más vale que sosobre, que sofalte.

Pues yo tengo pedidas ya la lata y la edición pack de las 3. Lo que ocurre es que si pedías las de Son of Kong y Mighty Joe Young sueltas salia más caro que el pack, pues hace unas semanas bajo el precio del pack y la lata de 27 y pico a 20 y pico (que es a como lo compre). Ahora han subido ambos un poco, a 25 y pico.

¿La de la lata tiene subtítulos en español? Es que en Pacific se dice que no lleva subtítulos. ¿Alguien que haga una comparativa sobre lo que hay, de manera abrevidada?

Diodati, la de la lata y la del pack son las mismas, solo que la lata lleva "los regalitos". Siendo warner fijo que lleva subt. solo en la peli.
En la contracrátula de dvdempire no se ve muy bien, pero intuyo que así se indica.

¿Y esos regalitos? Te refieres a las postalitas, ¿no? La verdad es que prefiero el "pack" con todas las películas. Hay que tener en cuenta la posible edición en zona 2. Al final, por triplicado.

Pues fíjate que yo, en este caso, he decidido hacer un ejercicio de autocontrol supremo, y esperarme a una edición en zona2.
El motivo son los subtítulos en los extras, obviamente, ...y la confianza en que esto saldrá por estos lares más pronto que tarde, al rebufo de la versión de Jackson (vamos a tener gorilas hasta en la sopa).

Si me sale mal la jugada siempre estaré a tiempo de repescarla, ...puede que incluso rebajada.
