British-born Paul W.S. Anderson ("Alien vs. Predator", "Resident Evil"), a man of much online debate over the quality of his films, has signed on with producer Neal Moritz and his Original Films production company to helm the action thriller "Man With the Football" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The film concerns terrorists who steal the U.S. president's "football" - the briefcase containing computer and telecommunications equipment used to initiate a nuclear strike - causing an elite band of government agents to scramble to thwart a potential terrorist attack.
Written by John Pogue, the project has been floating around the studio system for years but has finally ended up with Sony Pictures who'll be handling distribution.
