Dicen que ha sido el propio Coppola y su equipo legal los que han filtrado a los medios que la cinta va a ir a Cannes en competición, para contrarrestar el artículo del otro día del Hollywood Reporter. Francamente, no me extrañaría nada. Coppola es perro viejo y como diría Lucas, ha sobrevivido a todas las batallas imaginables.

Con este lío me he acordado de Érase una vez en América, con los estudios entusiasmados por traerse a Sergio Leone a EE.UU. y luego encontrándose con una obra extraña y larguísima que no sabían cómo vender, y la liaron con los recortes.
Pero también está la otra cara de la moneda: si la cinta no conecta con el público, por más que lleve el renombre de su autor y quizá incluso realmente tenga algunos valores destacables, pues no hay más que hacer. Porque la versión de Leone con el tiempo se convirtió en una cinta de culto entre los cinéfilos, pero pónsela a cualquiera que no sea muy aficionado y verás lo que tarda en dormirse.
Yo creo que encontrará distribución. Es raro que hoy en día, con tantas fórmulas disponibles, acabe olvidada en un par de pases de festivales. Por ejemplo, Netflix se ha tirado a por muchas obras de autor por ganar prestigio, sin miedo a que alguna saliera rana, como Blondie.
