Ya q se ha cerrado el hilo de los 1024 y tu has hecho un comentario al respecto.. lo pongo aqui el texto q tenia pensado pegar en el otro lado:

While I was on vacation there was a somewhat heated discussion on the HighDefForum about the smaller plasmas that sport the 1024x768 resolution as to whether they are HD displays or not. The CEA says they are (according to this tip sheet: Buying A Digital Television) as do the manufacturers even though they do not meet the minimum resolution called for by the ATSC spec or the CEA standard CEA-770.3-C which refers to 1280x720p and 1920x1080i only.

The ATSC spec lists 2 HD resolutions, 1280x720 and 1920x1080 and based on that the 1024x768 displays would fall short.

So the bottom line is they can be advertised as HD sets because of the CEA’s spec only having a vertical resolution requirement of at least 720 scan lines. The CEA does not address the horizontal resolution minimums, so a display with a resolution of say 853x768 or 240x768 could also be considered HD as far as the CEA is concerned.

For me, I would use the ATSC spec to determine HD resolution and thus I personally do not consider the 1024x768 panels as having a HD resolution. I see the CEA as a bit self serving allowing their members to use the HD designation when the don’t meet the ATSC standard.

But having said that, the fact is most owners of the smaller sets that sport the 1024h resolution have a fine picture as the smallness of the screen more than makes up for the reduced resolution.
