Tema: Oscars 2015

Esta próxima madrugada conoceremos los nominados de los Critics´Choice Awards, esto es, los premios que entrega la Broadcast Film Critics Association, la mayor organización de críticos del país, que este año cumplen su vigésimo aniversario.
En mi opinión, tienen mucho más envoltorio que sustancia. Ya comentamos el Doctor y yo el año pasado o el anterior, que tanta categoría premiada (aparte de las normales, también acción, comedia, horror o ciencia ficción) diluye la importancia de los mismos.
Pero también hay que reconocerles el poder adivinatorio. El año pasado calcaron prácticamente todas las categorías importantes finalmente ganadoras en los Oscar.

Este año se entregan 3 premios honoríficos, que vengo a detallar

Kevin Costner, que recibirá el Lifetime Achievement Award, el premio a toda una carrera.

Ron Howard, que será el receptor del LOUIS XIII Critics’ Choice Genius Award (llamado también el Rey del Cognac), por su excelencia en las artes cinematográficas. Como curiosidad, señalar que la pasada edición, lo recibieron Richard LInklater y la pareja de su trilogía, Ethan Hawke y Julie Delpy. SEguramente, este año copen los premios importantes

Jessica Chastain, que se le entregará el nuevo premio Critics’ Choice MVP Award, con el que se premia al actor o actriz con más trabajos impactantes durante un solo año (Interstellar, Miss Julie, A most violent year o Eleanor Rigby)

El próximo 15 de enero se conocerán los ganadores en una ceremonia que tendrá lugar en el Hollywood Palladium.

Los miembros de la Indiana Film Journalists Association han anunciado hoy sus ganadores del 2014

Destaca otra vez Boyhood, como película y director, entre otros galardones, aunque también la presencia de Fiennes, por El hotel Budapest y de Whiterspoon, por Wild, hasta ahora inéditos.

Bueno; ahí van mis primeras impresiones sobre los premios de la BFCA:

Lo primero, y es algo que comparto con el amigo Tomas, es que la apertura de candidaturas que sufrieron estos premios hace un par de años, unido al hecho de que en la mayoría de ellas haya al menos seis nominados en vez de cinco, hace que la impresion de "dispersión" de estos premios sea mayor que otros (incluidos los tan denostados globos de oro). Dividir la categoría de "mejor film" en hasta cinco apartados es a todas luces innecesario, y deviene en preguntas sin respuesta: por qué mejor comedia, pelicula de acción, animacion o ciencia ficción? No merecen entrar todas en la categoría principal? Son de segunda? Por que hay películas y actores que están doblemente nominados en las categorías generales y también en las de comedia? Por qué hay apartados para actores de acción o comedia, pero no de fantasía? Luego pasan cosas ridículas como la del año pasado, con Gravity ganando como mejor film de Sci-Fi y terror, y Bullock recibiendo el premio a mejor actriz de acción... eso no es serio, señores, y todo ello no hace mas que estropear unos galardones que estaban llamados hasta hace poco a sustituir en importancia y prestigio a los GG.

Dicho esto: el mayor número de candidatos supone el "rescate" dentro de la carrera de films que parecían muertos y enterrados hace unos días, como el caso de Unbroken con sus cuatro nominaciones (no así American Sniper, metida de tapadillo en la categoría de acción, menudo año para Eastwood). Perdida entra de lleno en las apuestas para los Oscars, Boyhood, Birdman, La teoría del todo y Descifrando Enigma se convierte en fijas de la temporada, y Wes Anderson demuestra que sigue siendo enormemente querido por la critica americana, repitiendo la misma jugada que el año pasado con la estupenda Moonrise Kingdom.

En actores se confirman casi todos los favoritos de la carrera: en actriz las más claramente descartadas son Amy Adams y Hilary Swank, y la mayor (agradable) sorpresa es la inclusión de Swinton en secundaria por Snowpiercer.

En dirección, Angelina Jolie por fin tiene su oportunidad en esta categoría, e Iñarritu al fin disfruta del éxito de su film.

Con el anuncio de estos premios, creo que la temporada de premios esta mas que encarrilada ;)

Reitero lo dicho por Zack, muchas gracias por mantenernos al día en la "road to the Oscars".

Como comentario personal, entre tanto premio a Michael Keaton, que parece el favorito, y a falta de ver la esperada interpretación de Jake Gyllenhall en "Nightcrawler", me alegra ver que Tom Hardy se ha llevado un par de premios; sus trabajos en "The Drop" y "Locke", por la se los han dado, son de quitarse el sombrero y le hacían merecedor de algún reconocimiento. Por cierto, que su paisano Benedict Cumberbatch, que aparece nominado en casi todas las listas, de momento nada de nada, ¿se irá de vacío después de todo?

Grande la crítica de San Diego, rindiéndose ante Nightcrawler Un poco de disidencia ante la unanimidad nunca viene mal...

Un saludo.

El viernes sabremos los ganadores según los críticos de Florida. Parece que este año solo tienen ojos prácticamente para tres films: Boyhood, Birdman y Budapest (las 3 bes). El año pasado apostaron por 12 años de esclavitud, con 5 premios, incluida mejor película, actor, director y guión adaptado.

Al parecer, los gandores de Houston se sabrán el 10 de enero.

A este lado del charco también sabemos apreciar el buen cine.


En su 35ª edición, los miembros del London Critics´Circle han anunciado sus nominados para el 2014.
Mr. Turner y Birdman copan los primeros puestos.
La gala de entrega se celebrará el domingo 18 de enero, y tendrá lugar por tercera ocasión consecutiva, en el May Fair Hotel.
El año pasado fue 12 años de esclavitud, el elegido film del año por la crítica londinense.

En cualquier caso, me falta Iñarritu y Anderson.
