When news hailed from the trades last month that Sam Raimi had given the go-ahead to an “Evil Dead” remake, we assumed it put a stake, once and for all, through any hopes of an “Evil Dead 4”. Predominatly, one that bought back Bruce Campbell as Ash.

Guess again. Raimi tells Zap2it.com, “Evil Dead 4” is still on the cards, despite the looming redo.

"I definitely want to do it and I think after -- whenever the Spider-Man jobs end -- I would love to dig in on that," Raimi says. "That's something I'm really looking forward to."

According to the website, Raimi won’t be directing the remake of “Evil Dead” (that'll be helmed by, and probably star, someone else other than Campbell), he’s saving his vision for an “Evil Dead 4”, which he'll do after putting Peter Parker to bed.

Raimi wrote, directed and produced the 1981 film, which tells the tale of a group of friends who go to a cabin in the woods, where they find an unspeakable evil lurking in the forest. One by one, the teens become deadly zombies. With only Ash (Campbell) remaining, it is up to him to survive the night and battle The Evil Dead.

Raimi will not direct the remake, so Ghost House is looking for a helmer to reinvent the franchise before a script is written.<hr></blockquote>

Tomaselli Begs to Direct 'Evil Dead' Remake


I can't think of anyone in their right mind who would want to have an Evil Dead remake hanging over their head for the rest of their career- one slip up means death my horror fans for life (we're unforgiving bastards). Well talented directed Dante Tomaselli, who just completed his film Satan's Playground is willing to put his balls in a vice grip for one of his most beloved franchises. Read on for word from Dante (update inside)...

Dante tells Movieonline:

Needless to say, I'd love to direct an Evil Dead project. I've been wanting to make an all-out zombie splatter film for a long time. Something hard-core and gory as hell. I like that Tapert wants to produce a film that is an "assault." I have a track record...3 features now -- and I can certainly work on low budgets.

Hell, I even have Ellen (Cheryl from the original) Sandweiss in my new film, Satan's Playground. She had so many interesting stories to tell about the making of the original. I'm planning on shooting THE OCEAN next, but I'd drop everything if this opportunity presented itself.

I'm a die-hard Evil Dead fan; I saw the cult classic in 1981 in theaters when I was 11.

As he further explains in his email:

"I've had a lot of practice making low budget -- shot on film -- indie
movies with budgets ranging right around Evil Dead's $350, 000. I know horror fans
hold The Evil Dead sacred. I'm aware that many are ferociously against
another one happening without the original cast and director. I feel their pain -
I agree. I wish Raimi would direct it. I'm a fan of the original -- big time.
But the director and producer have already stated that Raimi won't be
directing. They've put the word out there -- that they are looking for a director.
So, as a hard-core Evil Dead fan and an indie horror director, it just makes
sense for me to be interested. I'm not begging for the job as your headline
read - I'm just putting my name into the mix of directors being considered. I
respect the integrity of the original so much. Believe me, I would never want
to hurt its legacy."

Entrevista sacada de Bloody Disgusting

<span style="text-decoration:underline">Sam Raimi and Tapert, when asked if they were considering Sean Scott Williams for the part of Ash, looked at each other for a minute and then, together said, "Who is that?" Sam then said, "I don't think I've ever heard of him".

In regards to 'Evil Dead 4 Raimi says, "There will be an Evil Dead 4, and there will ALSO be an Evil Dead Remake. The remake will be produced by Ghost House pictures, (his company with Tapert) and it will star a new cast and a completely new director. The point of Ghost House is that we want to bring new directors (like Takashi Shimizu of "the Grudge" to Hollywood and give them a chnace to make a good horror film."

On WHAT inspired him to allow the remake, Raimi said, "I love the original Dawn of the Dead, and I also really enjoyed the new Dawn of the Dead. I mean, they are both really great horror films. I want to let somebody with a fresh vision bring The Evil Dead to a new generation and a new audience with a different vision..."

Contrary to what Raimi told Mr. D, the remake will be Evil Dead 1 and 2 together, but remade with a higher budget and a new cast and crew.

However, Raimi will be directing and producing Evil Dead 4, which will star Bruce Campbell as ASH and will also have many of the actors from the previous Evil Dead movies. Raimi says that "This is the project I really want to make. The remake can belong to someone else, but part 4 will be a continuation of the original".

Ted and Sam Raimi have begun writing Part 4, and will be developing it for production later this year. Bruce Campbell and Tapert will both be involved...</span>

Además el remake de las dos primeras entregas no tendrá ningún personaje llamado Ash por petición expresa de Bruce Campbell, así que parece que las cosas apuntan más que bien. El propio Raimi ha dicho que Evil Dead 4 la hará unica y exclusivamente para él y para los fans, que sabe que nunca será un exito de taquilla pero que le da exactamente igual, que aunque solo vayan 100.000 personas en todo el mundo a verla, mientras los fans de Evil Dead queden contentos, y el tambien, esa será la película que tiene que hacer.

Parece que el rodaje arranca en marzo en Nueva Zelanda. Hace tiempo que la anunciaron, pero parece que esta vez va en serio. Sin Ash no es lo mismo.

Que manía le ha dado a todo el mundo con los remakes! No se puede continuar la saga!? Que falta de originalidad hay hoy en día por favor...
Y encima la producen Raimi y Campbell...desde luego no entiendo como se atreven a producir un remake de una obra de culto que les lanzó a la fama

Está claro ke sin Ash no hay Evil dead. Al menos se han tomado la decencia de no colgar su nombre en ninguno de los personajes de esta nueva adaptación.

Y encima la producen Raimi y Campbell...desde luego no entiendo como se atreven a producir un remake de una obra de culto que les lanzó a la fama

Y en su derecho están.

He de suponer, como la amplia mayoría de los remakes que se están perpetrando actualmente, que de revisión del clásico tendrá un leve parecido argumental.

Lo que hace que las esperanzas en la película caigan cuesta abajo y sin frenos es Diablo Cody de guionista, que demostró una ineptitud galopante con el género en "Jennifer´s Body".

Tan fuera de lugar me parece ahora mismo un remake de "Evil Dead" como su cuarta parte, sinceramente.

Ya tenemos protagonista (femenina): Lily Collins, hija de Phil y vista en The blind side, El sicario de Dios o pronto en Mirror, mirror.

El original es irrepetible, por mi se la podrían haber ahorrado.

El supuesto prota : Shilo Fernández . Creo que salió en la nueva Caperucita crepuscular...Ojú.
