InFAMOUS: Second Son Video Competition Promises $16,000 in Prizes; Grants Available to Cover Costs

Filmmakers community MOFILM just announced and opened a video contest tied to the upcoming launch of inFAMOUS: Second Son on March the 21st.

The competition is open to filmmakers and aspiring filmmakers over 16 years of age that want to put their skills to test. Participation to the contest is completely free and doesn’t require any purchase. There’s also no location restriction and entries will be accepted from all over the world.

Here’s an excerpt from the official brief describing the theme of the competition:

Make a film that brings to life the following idea for Second Son: If you were a superhuman, what would your power be and how would you enjoy it?

This is the moment to dive into your imagination, rediscover the superhuman in you and to bring him or her to life. You do not need to use in-game characters or powers. You are free to make up your own powers. So get creative about what your power would be and how you would use it. Maybe you would want to fly through train tunnels? Blow up cars? Swim in canals? Stride over buildings?

Because the game has an urban setting, your powers have to be relevant to a city. Think smoke not fire, electricity not lightning. In addition to this, your powers cannot be
magical or fantasy.

Remember the brief is about Superhumans (Heroes/Chronicle), not Superheroes (Superman/Thor). Superheroes are always good while Superhumans have choice. As a Superhuman, your powers do not obligate you to any moral code. It’s up to you to determine how you use them to impact the story as it unfolds.

Winners will be selected directly by Sony, and the prize pool available for the contest is $16,000, with $8,000 (and a trip to the location where the awards ceremony will be held) granted to the best clip. $4,000 to the second ranker, $2,000 for the third, and $1,000 for 4th and 5th.

In addition to the prizes further payments will be provided if Sony decides to air the clip for promotional purposes on TV or in theaters, in which case the main actors will also be paid for their work.

Infamous: Second Son’s Nate Fox Says Gamers Will Have to Play Through it Twice to Enjoy the Complete Experience



Games that have choices revolving around morality sometimes will demand a second playthrough so that gamers can experience the outcomes of their decisions had they gone a different route. Infamous: Second Son, the third iteration in the Infamous franchise, also seems to be shaping up to be this type of game.

Infamous: Second Son‘s Director, Nate Fox, explained in a recent interview with VG247 that the develoeprs have done their, “damnedest to make it fun in both directions, but in my opinion you’ve got to play the game twice to really experience inFamous: Second Son. I know from watching people play the game, that most of them play first as a good guy because we’ve been conditioned by society not to speed and help old ladies cross the street.” Even though the complete experience can be gleaned from two playthroughs, each playthrough is essentially fulfilling in itself. He further added that, “they play through again, and they’re the most evil sons-of-guns you’ve ever met. They enjoy being evil, but they’ve got to get the good guy experience out of their systems before they allow themselves to be the jerks they are in their heart.”

Infamous: Second Son is being developed by Sucker Punch Productions and will be published by SCE for the PlayStation 4 on March 21st, 2014.

Parece que puedes dirigir un poco la caida en picado del ataque especial ese del final.

Eso parece.

Por cierto, soy yo o el tio ese es un poco "manco"? Me he desesperado un par de veces viendolo jugar...

No sé jajaja, yo directamente me he ido al final del video para confirmar que el ataque ese especial es en tiempo real y no una escena pregrabada en todas las fases en un punto concreto.

De momento pinta genial.

EDIT: Acabo de mirar los precios en Xtralife aprovechando que lo has puesto, y como se pasan, 10€ mas de diferencia :(

Ya te digo. Yo siempre intento comprar en Xtralife porque me parecen geniales y siempre regalan alguna cosita en cada pedido. Pero creo que esta vez les voy a ser "infiel" Y es que esa edición especial a 70,90€ me llama y mucho.

Por cierto, nunca he comprado en TuTiendaDeVideojuegos pero me he estado informando y toda la gente habla muy bien de esta tienda: buenos precios, envío anticipado para que te llegue el día de salida (o antes), etc.

Lo único "malo" es que te cobran el pedido al reservar y no al enviar...

Xtralife hará como 2-3 años aún, pero ahora, desde que empezaron con la política de precios a la alza, se merecen que no les compre nadie (se cuelgan a la parra con los precios de forma descarada de 10€ de diferencia mínimo...)

A mi me parece que, aparte de Amazon, tienen de los mejores precios en internet...

Yo también pensaba que era buena tienda, hasta que empecé a leer por algunos foros que eran especuladores. Estuve indagando un poco más y sí, especulan con las ediciones coleccionistas.

Esta por ejemplo, el precio oficial eran 100€, al que ha estado en todas las tiendas, incluida GAME y demás
