Yoda, Darth Vader, and R2-D2 would be significantly lacking without the visual effects that created them—and these creations and innovation in digital cinematography have put George Lucas and his companies on the forefront of technological advancement in film. On Oct. 23, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers will be giving honorary membership into the society, its highest award, to George Lucas during its Honor and Awards ceremony.
Lucas is the founder of Industrial Light & Magic, sound company THX, and Pixar Animation, which began as a subdivision of Lucasfilm.

Tan sólo añadir que el texto olvida Skywalker Sound y que lo de que fundó Pixar Animation es cierto a medias, es decir, fundó el germen de Pixar y lo que Jobs compró en 1986, pero tal como está escrito en la noticia parece que Lucas fundó la compañía de animación y tampoco es eso. De hecho Jobs la compró pensando más en el tema tecnológico, y en la visita (o una de las visitas) de Jobs al Rancho Skywalker (donde dijo quedarse alucinado, él, que venía de su despido en Apple!), Lucas le advirtió que Catmull, Lasseter y compañía lo que realmente querían era dedicarse a la animación 3D por ordenador.

Son de un conocido artista llamado Matt Ferguson, y se venden con certificado de autenticidad por una galería de Nueva York, así que yo diría que no son posters oficiales, pero sí que tiene algún tipo de licencia o permiso de Lucasfilm.Cita:

Perhaps its the fact that so many of us are shown the original trilogy at a young, impressionable age, but over the years we have seen some absolutely stunning pieces of art inspired by George Lucas' outer-space saga. Take, for example. the stunning artwork you see above - simply titled "Trilogy" - that has appeared online and is now available for sale.
The work, drawn by artist Matt Ferguson, is actually a set of three different posters that serve as an ode to the original three Star Wars movies, each one dedicated to some of the most important locations in the fictional sci-fi universe: Luke Skywalker's home planet of Tatooine in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope; the ice planet Hoth in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back; and the Empire-occupied moon of Endor from Star Wars Episode VI: Return of The Jedi. To really appreciate these pieces you have to see them individually, so let's take a closer look, shall we.
First up, thanks to the art site Bottle Neck, we have the view of Tatooine, which Ferguson tags with the famous Obi-wan quote. "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious." Pictured on the cliff, of course, is Obi-wan, Luke, C3P-O and R2-D2.
