Before sci-fi master Denis Villeneuve helmed the franchise, surrealist auteur David Lynch crafted his epic vision based on the classic novel by Frank Herbert.

This strictly Limited Edition Sandbox packaging features a tempered glass liquid sand panel, displaying the rolling sands of Arrakis and hints of spice melange, moving in front of the iconic poster artwork. Tilt the panel to watch the sands spill, run your fingers across the sand-like grit-textured surface of the hardbox, turn the foil-stamped text towards the light, and pull out the drawer to dive beneath the dunes.

This is a heavy, bespoke collector’s item, measuring 23 x 32cm, weighing in at 1.5kg, and comes replete with comprehensive physical extras:

• a full-colour matte laminated 27" x 40" folded print of the original poster;
• a reprint of the original official 1984 three-issue comic series;
• a hardcover booklet, featuring 60 pages of photographs and original production material;
• a 3D Lenticular Hardcase housing all four discs;

Esos detalles, tan vinculados con la película, y siendo original, a la vez que no rompe la estética en una estantería, me hace apretar los dientes.

Si.

En España salió una serie de películas en DVD de fondo de catálogo en caja metálica con el frontal conteniendo sobre todo fluidos (¿era The Relic la que tenia un liquido rojo-sangre?), pero recuerdo vagamente que también había alguna con arena.

Edito: si, era The Relic. Acabo de verla en todocoleccion, pero no recuerdo el resto, ni la(s) que incluía(n) arena.

Maravillosa (y cara) edición… pero de momento estoy más que servido con la de Plaion

A estas alturas solo recompraría si (oh, milagro), alguien descubriese en algún desván el Workprint de Lynch, de 4 horas y pico, lo remasterizara, y lo incluyera en esa hipotética edición … o, a lo sumo, si alguna compañía española sacara una edición en 4K con el doblaje original en castellano y los extras subtitulados

Así es, en 2008, Universal reeditó 25 títulos de terror en ediciones coleccionistas en cajas metálicas que contenían algún tipo de fluido o arena:

• Arena: 1997: Rescate en Nueva York, El sótano del miedo, La escalera de Jacob, La llave del mal, La serpiente y el arcoíris y La tierra de los muertos vivientes

• Líquido amarillo: Candyman

• Líquido azul: Doom, Están vivos, La cosa y Miedo azul

• Líquido rojo: Al final de la escalera, Amanecer de los muertos, Aullidos, Carretera al infierno, Halloween: El origen, La matanza de Texas, Silencio desde el mal, Stay Alive, Terroríficamente muertos y The Relic

• Líquido transparente: Slither, la plaga

• Líquido verde: El Príncipe de las Tinieblas, El pueblo de los malditos y La niebla

También la edición especial en steelbook de 30 días de noche, tenía líquido rojo.
