No es casualidad este movimiento con The Keep e Imprint.
El punto fuerte de Vinegar es su receta mágica adicional, llámalo pimienta o picante, pero añade algo a sus escaneos en 4K y sus restauraciones que no tienen las demás.
El punto fuerte de Imprint puede ser si incluyen escenas eliminadas o la banda sonora de Tangerine Dream en vinilo o algo. Si se esmeran muchos picarán por 2.

Sí. Tanto la edición sencilla como la limitada estaban agotadas. Han repuesto solo de la standard. La limitada parece que era la que estaba limitada a 12000 copias. De la standard no leí acerca de limitaciones en ningún momento.
Ahora dicen tener más de 1000 copias disponibles. De nuevo no hablan de limitación, por lo que no veo por qué no iban a haber copias de sobras para todos los interesados.
Bueno, pues vista y luce sencillamente espectacular, como era de esperar. La he disfrutado un montón, después de haberla visto (años ha) en alguna mugrienta versión en vídeo.

Vista por encima, la mejora con respecto a ediciones anteriores es sencillamente espectacular.
Lo editado anteriormente era, básicamente, mediocre: hablamos de VHS, DVD y laserdisc bastante añejos, y de emisiones de TV. Teniendo en cuenta la fotografía tan especial del film, con un uso intensivo de difusión y niebla, efectos visuales de integración óptica, y una gran cantidad de planos rodados con luz en clave baja, la presentación no puede ser más fidedigna. Donde antes solo se veía oscuridad y niebla emborronada, ahora se ven detalles que no había visto nunca. No voy a decir que es como verla de nuevo, pero casi :cortina
El audio viene en el original 2.0 estéreo, y solo con subtítulos en inglés SDH, así que preparaos para continuos “tense music continues” a lo largo de toda la peli :P

En definitiva: a no ser que al amigo Mann saque del armario algún día un workprint de trabajo con el que poder trabajar, esta va a ser la mejor presentación que veremos de la peli en mucho, muchísimo tiempo…

Me llegó el viernes. La compré directamente en la web de ViaVision y no he tenido muchos problemas en aduanas (me cobraron unos 2€ en concepto de IVA), pero hasta hoy no he podido abrirla….
… y menuda cajota. Bate el récord de dimensiones de todo lo que había tenido hasta ahora. Pero joder, vale la pena tener una edición de estas de vez en cuando. Muy buena calidad y presentacion:

La presentación es apabullante: la cruz, las fotos, el cómic, el facsímil del “Handbook” de Paramount, los discos. Todo ralla a gran a nivel. En cuanto a los extras, el disco 4K contiene los comentarios de audio, y en el blu-ray están todos los demás (incluyendo el final alternativo de TV que, eso sí, está a calidad VHS). El BD ademas, al ser edicion australiana, es completamente legible en reproductores de aqui, a diferencia de la edicion americana.
Vienen con subtitulado en inglés, en teoría para sordos, pero en la práctica creo que se asemeja más a un subtitulado normal (no he visto ningún letrero de “tense music continúes”, que sí venían en la edición de Vinegar, por ejemplo). Como único punto negativo, no hay ninguna opción de capítulos en el menú principal (en el de Vinegar suelen venir en forma de “Reels”). Sí que esta capitulada, pero tienes que pasarlo con el botón del mando.
En cuanto a calidad de imagen, en un vistazo por encima no he visto diferencias apreciables con el disco de Vinegar, pero sí que es un encode algo diferente, porque en las características de imagen de mi Panasonic dan valores algo distintos:

Pero la joya de la corona de este pack es el documental de hora y media que incluye sobre la realización de la película. Subtitulado en inglés (esta vez el SDH para sordos sí que se nota pero bueno… pecata minuta), esta muy bien editado y explica con detalle como se hizo el film, y los problemas que tuvieron, tanto en rodaje como en post-producción:

Creo que este documental se va a poder ver además en varios festivales de cine, incluyendo el de Sitges, que se celebrará dentro de unas semanas…
En definitiva, un capricho (caro), pero que supone todo un caramelito para los fanáticos de esta imperfecta película. Y, a no ser que a Michael Mann le dé por revisitarla y hacer un montaje “del director”, cosa harto improbable a esta alturas, la edición definitiva de este film durante muchos, muchos años.

Madre mía. He recogido hoy la edición Australiana desde Universe. Una caja de 50x40x28. Y dentro otra caja con relleno de poliexpan, y dentro la caja de cartón de imprint. Y la edición es descomunal. No pensé que fuera así.
