Paramount ha anunciado el lanzamiento de esta película de Roman Polanski en el formato 4K ULTRA HD, en USA, para el 18 de junio, en su colección "Paramount Presents", una edición que tiene, además, la secuela ''The Two Jakes'' de 1990, dirigida por el propio Jack Nicholson.

Paramount Home Media Distribution will release on 4K Blu-ray Roman Polanski's Chinatown (1974), starring Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway, John Huston, Perry Lopez, and John Hillerman. The combo pack release will also include on Blu-ray Jack Nicholson's The Two Jakes (1990). It will be available for purchase on June 18th.

Produced by the legendary Robert Evans, CHINATOWN was originally released on June 26, 1974 and received widespread critical acclaim along with 11 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture. In 1991, the film was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant."

Robert Towne's brilliant Academy Award®-winning screenplay weaves a tragic and shocking tale of corruption, greed, and the human propensity for evil. Chinatown

When Los Angeles private eye J.J. "Jake" Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is hired by Evelyn Mulwray to investigate her husband's activities, he believes it's a routine infidelity case. Jake's investigation soon becomes anything but routine when he meets the real Mrs. Mulwray (Faye Dunaway) and realizes he was hired by an imposter. Mr. Mulwray's sudden death sets Gittes on a tangled trail of corruption, deceit and sinister family secrets as Evelyn's father (John Huston) becomes a suspect in the case.

The Two Jakes

Private investigator and war veteran Jake Gittes (Jack Nicholson) is hired by real estate developer Jake Berman (Harvey Keitel) for some run-of-the-mill matrimonial work. After Berman shoots his wife's lover, who happens to be his own business partner, Gittes is drawn into a web of conspiracy and deceit involving the oil reserves beneath Los Angeles. While investigating, Gittes hears a voice from his past that causes him to revisit a traumatic case in Chinatown.

Adicionalmente, también se acaba de anunciar en UK en una edición coleccionista, y tenemos buena noticia; según la contraportada, tiene castellano en el 4K. Eso sí, aunque tiene mejor presentación (aunque sencilla) le falta la secuela.

Divisa acaba de confirmar a Mubis que se lanzará aquí la edición coleccionista de UK aquí mostrada, además de unas ediciones amaray sencillas 4K y BD respectivamente. No hay fecha confirmada todavía pero es probable que salga en Junio.

En iTunes lleva ya un tiempecito. La tengo y luce muy bien. Veremos que tal el UltraHD

Por cierto, si alguno menciona el tema de extras. Seguramente el BD estándar será el mismo pelado de siempre, pero afortunadamente el 4K parece que va a tener todos los extras que nos perdimos.

Lo digo porque como aficionado a los extras que soy me ha jodido pasar de algunos UHDs recientes de Paramount al no tener extras aquí (Flashdance, por ejemplo.).. lo malo es que aquí nos falta la secuela como extra, pero menos da una piedra.

Pocas pellículas en la historia del cine usan el punto de vista como Chinatown. Imprescindible compra.

Pues yo, de los afortunados que todavía no la he visto. Pero me gusta el film noir, asi que la pillaré.

Menuda película. Una de las mejores de todos los tiempos sin ninguna duda.

Estoy ahora empezando a ver esos clásicos en UHD que he comprado recientemente: El fugitivo, Algunos hombres buenos, etc.

Independientemente de la calidad de la imagen, el sonido, etc., qué me parecen muy buenas, lo que es innegable es la calidad de la película (los actores, la historia,…) Qué ganas de de seguir adquiriendo clásicos en este formato.

Vamos, esta cae.

La vi hace un tiempo en 4K digital, se ve bien, no en el sentido de que parezca una imagen atractiva, de hecho, no lo es, pero tiene algo de procesamiento tipico de Paramount como grano ralentizado y DNR en ciertas tomas.
