Ejemplos preclaros e incombustibles con tiempo acumulado histórico en cuanto a razón de ser que sean expandidos.... ahora un Brian Tyler amodorrador de 75 minutos o un Mad Max Fury Road de hora y media..... Me gustaría que se ofreciera una "miniguía" o atisbo para deconstruír lo que pueda ser una experiencia asfixiante en otra que musicalmente, si se quiere llamar así, sea más eficiente en dosificación, porque hay que invertir un tiempo razonablemente extenso en trazar un plan. Bueno, para eso están los foros.
Yo, por ejemplo, rara vez suelo escuchar el doble CD de The Ghost and the Darkness entero y vuelvo al original o añado algún tema extra de la versión de Intrada.

No hay dos soundtracks iguales en lo que respecta a este curioso campo de pequeñas microcirugías que en esta década ha adquirido una cierta consolidación.
Ahí está, por ejemplo, Psicosis. Viendo ahora la edición de Varèse, el tema más largo es de tres minutos (The peephole) y el famoso asesinato sucede en un chirriante minuto.

También es de justicia mencionar que las editoras cuando hacen un programa expandido suelen unir cortes, precisamente para evitar una situación donde tengas 50 cortes de entre 20 segundos y un minuto. Los casos donde se suelen dejar intactos suelen ser aquellos que tienen fuerza o expresividad por si mismos, o son un momento breve pero muy significativo.
También hay estropicios a nivel de presentación (Dick Tracy...), pero no son mayoría, afortunadamente.

Claro, este es otro problema. Hoy en día, si la pelicula tiene exito o popularidad, se tiende a editar el score completo, o ediciones de 70-80 minutos. Esto no es algo necesariamente bueno por lo que comentas, claro.
La última de fast and furious de Brian Tyler dura 116 minutos.

El problema es que Fast 9 no tiene la capacidad tematica para aguantar 116 minutos de escucha, en cambio, los 78 minutos de AvPR, son entendibles por la capacidad tematica de esa partitura.
Y lo mismo con Eagle Eye.
Hasta te puedo aguantar los 125 minutos de la edicion deluxe de Mad Max, luego no me pidais que haga lo mismo con The Amazing Spider-Man 2

¿Se puede escuchar de una tirada todo el score de Tom Holkenborg para el nuevo montaje de Justice League?
Creo que se ha editado íntegro en digital. y fijaos que no hemos entrado en el asunto de la colocación de los tracks (cronológicamente vs. no necesariamente cronológicamente) El A bridge too far de John Addison me parece un score "diferente", bien es verdad que por una aparte se separan los "film tracks" y por otro la "regrabación", sonido más concertístico, que hace más evidentes los matices.

Pongo ejemplo, Fast Five dura menos, no es tematico, pero la escucha es mas divertida.
El problema que veo mucho ultimamente, es la gente que se tira para atras cuando anuncian duraciones, suelo preferir albumes de una hora u hora y 10 minutos (luego si merece la pena, una edicion expandida, Deep Rising, por ejemplo, gana enteros en la edicion expandida que en la edicion que Hollywood Records edito en su dia, de hecho, me parecio regular -y mas viniendo de un fan de Goldsmith como yo-)
Os remato de esta forma, No Without My Daughter, prefiero la edicion de LLL.

Bueno, más que Elfman Dead Again es Hermann más Waxman. Y Doyle, claro, que tiene una personalidad compostica desbordante y más en aquella primera etapa. Por eso desde un punto de vista analítico me hace mucha gracia: El film es, literalmente, ken branagh y sus colegas british haciendo un noir para paramount homenajeando a la golden age de Hollywood.
El score es lo mismo: Tiene el aire a los 40/50, a los noir de Rozsa, a Waxman... pero luego a la vez es muy britanico. .
Y dead again tiene dos guiños graciosisimo que Branagh cuenta en el audiocomentario. Era joven, exitoso y tenía ego. Resulta que en la secuencia inicial de la pelicula , cuando Andy Garcia va a visitarlo al corredor de la muerte, Branagh viste un uniforme de presidiario con el número 25101415, o lo que es lo mismo, el 25 de de octubre de 1415, fecha en la que tuvo lugar la batalla de Agincourt, suceso que narró en su primera pelicula, Enrique V.
Después, todos los periódicos que salen en el film tienen fecha del diez de diciembre... dia en el que Branagh cumple años.

Es algo que entiendo y comparto parcialmente.Pues a mí Powell, partiendo de la base de que es un compositor muy bueno, se me antoja algo embarullado en cuanto a técnica. Buenos temas y solido desarrollo, pero su música tiende a agotarme por unas orquestaciones y arreglos que tienden a dispersarse mas de la cuenta, y a menudo tengo problemas para seguir las líneas concurrentes de su música de acción, por ejemplo.
Pero en el caso de Cómo entrenar a tu Dragón, no me pasa tanto. Creo que genuinamente es donde mas centrado estuvo y que fluye muy bien tanto en la película como escuchado aparte.
