Bob Furmanek (que ha dirigido unas cuantas restauraciones de películas clásicas en 3D para Blu-Ray) confirma en el foro de Classic Horror que para el 28 de Agosto se editará en USA un pack con la trilogía del monstruo de la laguna negra en Blu-Ray :descolocao. Las tres películas vendrán en su formato widescreen de estreno original y las dos primeras en 3D. Ahora sólo falta saber si habrán subtítulos en español para las secuelas...

Una extraordinaria noticia.
Por un lado, por seguir completando las colecciones LEGACY (ya teníamos Drácula, el monstruo de Frankenstein, la momia y el hombre lobo) y sólo faltaban el hombre invisible y la Criatura de la Laguna Negra (precioso nombre, por cierto) y, por otro, por tener por primera vez en 3-D la continuación de la anteriormente citada que también fue dirigida por el gran Jack Arnold y que fue la última película rodada y exhibida en relieve en los años '50.
La copia británica de CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON (que es la que yo tengo) incluye audio y subtítulos en castellano (tanto para la película como para los extras).

Es muy poco fiable eso. El primer disco casi seguro que va a ser el mismo que ya está a la venta desde hace años, y ese ya tiene más idiomas de los que aparecen listados ahí. Pero vamos, que ojalá sea cierto :agradableCita:

For this new 2018 restoration, NBCUniversal scanned the original 35mm left/right camera negatives in 4K resolution. After image grading and extensive dirt/damage clean-up by their expert team, the master files were sent to Greg Kintz at the 3-D Film Archive.
There are many baked-in stereoscopic issues with this production.
Universal-International had dismantled their underwater 3-D rig sometime in early 1954 when 3-D movies seemed dead at the boxoffice. They quickly assembled another rig for the start of production on RETURN OF THE CREATURE on June 25, 1954.
There are shots where the camera shutters are out-of-phase (a watery image) which cannot be fixed. Also, camera malfunctions on location in Florida resulted in several 2-D shots in the film and those are still flat.
However, all issues with vertical mis-alignment have now been corrected. In addition, editor Paul Weatherwax inadvertently cut a number of shots reversed into the assembled camera negatives (left on right) and those have also been fixed.
This new restoration is a VAST improvement over what was seen in 1955 and on all subsequent revivals and anaglyphic conversions. In short, it has never before looked this good.
The world premiere of the new restoration will take place in Bologna, Italy at Il Cinema Ritrovato in June 2018. Keep an eye on their website for the precise date and time of the premiere.

Hace poco vimos el dvd de "Los malditos" y la imagen aguanta cosa buena el paso del tiempo, aunque igualmente babeamos con el 1080i de TCM. Podré armarme de paciencia en lo que llega a aquí esta TOTAL Y ABSOLUTA OBRA MAESTRA.

Al fin las he recibido: las dos ediciones USA de Snappy Video de "El planeta fugitivo" (The Phantom Planet) e "Invasión a la luna" (Missile to the Moon) en Blu-Ray (BD-R). Por si no conocéis este sello, se trata de una pequeña editora americana dirigida por una única persona (Steve Stanchfield) que restaura rollos de 35mm de películas raras y sin derechos de autor y las edita en formato BD-R. Normalmente lleva a cabo un período de pre-order y después las pone a la venta en Amazon. Es un trabajo artesanal de una sóla persona que con mucho esfuerzo y bastante pasión pone en el mercado auténticas rarezas.
Estos dos clásicos de ciencia-ficción han sido rescatados de viejos rollos de proyección de 35mm y han sido restaurados lo mejor posible por Steve. El resultado con The Phantom Planet es sencillamente espectacular, nunca se ha visto esta película en vídeo doméstico con semejante calidad. Con Missile to the Moon el resultado es un poco más desigual, pues el rollo estaba en bastante mal estado y la primera parte de la película se muestra con menor calidad que el resto (incluso la imagen no es del todo estable durante el inicio). Aun así, es sin duda la mejor versión que existe de esta película en la actualidad.
Estas dos ediciones se venden en la actualidad exclusivamente en Amazon.com a $15,95 cada una, son Region-Free e incluyen subtítulos en español. También incluyen contenidos extra adicionales, como trailers, galerías de imagenes, etc. Para mí, imprescindibles :agradable. Os dejo los enlaces de Amazon:

Este tipo, ¿no es el mismo que, años atrás, editaba series de televisión en VHS, libres de derechos, en una marca llamada VideoSteve?
Pues no lo sé, creo que no. En blu-ray.com es conocido por haber creado el sello Snappy Video en 1988 para editar compilaciones de cartoons clásicos en VHS.Cita:

Tras saber que aquí han estropeado el lanzamiento de "La fuga del Bronx" en HD (BD-R), me vengo a topar con este lanzamiento de Blue Underground (para el 23 de octubre), como es habitual en multizona y con subtítulos. No sé si cuadra del todo en la categoría, pero las películas tienen sus añitos y pienso que estamos ante un producto lo suficientemente interesante como para comentarlo.

A mí, precisamente, el único motivo que encuentro para no comprarlo es que pierdo la imagen completa en la carátula de esos maravillosos posters. No los considero prescindibles.

En este caso, el meterla en un pack con las otras dos no es disparatado. Se rodaron las tres en 6 meses, compartiendo producción.
Eso sí; el "fallo" no es llamarlas "trilogía", sino llamar a la trilogía como "bronx warriors". Para el productor y el director es la "trilogía postapocalíptica", y va progresando mientras muestra la decadencia del género humano a través de varias décadas. La primera transcurre en 1990, la segunda en 2000 y la tercera en 2019.
El pack que va a sacar BU con las tres acierta con el título de pleno ("colección postapocalíptica").
El pack de Uk acierta con el empaquetado (bru-tal).
Y todos fallan con el título de la tercera, ya que nadie mantiene su titulo original del estreno en cines: Los guerreros de la tierra perdida (una pena que se pierdan estas cosas).
Como también es pertinente a este tema, lo repito aquí: Shock Entertainment anuncia el lanzamiento en Blu-Ray de This Island Earth en Australia para el 3 de Octubre :agradable. Las ediciones de esta compañía suelen ser region-free y con subtítulos opcionales en inglés, así que es una opción a tener en cuenta.

Schoedsack, co-director de clásicos como El Malvado Zaroff y King Kong. La edición en alta definición costará 12,99 €, incluirá una galería de imágenes y vendrá con una pista de sonido con la versión original en inglés y subtítulos en castellano.
Esta no me suena de haberla visto nunca, pero tiene buena pinta. Puede ser que caiga.
Es una peli entretenida, simpática. Yo me lo paso muy bien siempre que la veo. Y tiene una fotografía Technicolor que tira de espaldas :encanto, los colores más bonitos que se pueden ver en una pantalla.Cita:

He hecho de conejillo de indias con la edición BD de "Dr. Cyclops" de Divisa. Aunque aun no la he visto entera, a primera vista todo parece bien, la peli proviene del mismo máster que la edición de Kino en USA, así que de calidad de imagen va muy bien servida. Los subtítulos en español son un poco pequeños pero se leen bien. El único extra que lleva es una galería de imagenes que me ha parecido bastante interesante, son pósters extranjeros, Lobby Cards, imagenes promocionales, etc.
