<blockquote>Quote:<hr>Brian Grazer Talks Da Vinci Code
Producer Brian Grazer has an impressive slate of movies in development, most notably the highly anticipated adaptation of The DaVinci Code. Still in the script stages, Grazer said he’s being very careful to please the book’s fans.
“That’s hard,” Grazer said. “We want to be true to the audience. It’s fiction and we just want to be true to the audience and the readers, the very loyal readers of The DaVinci Code.”
While the book was full of literary explanations of history and art, Grazer acknowledged that the movie may have to be more visual. “We’re going to make it really tense and we’ll probably beef up the action and the way we use scale will offer a lot of power to the movie.”
Also on Grazer’s slate is the boxing drama The Cinderella Man starring Russell Crowe, which just wrapped principal photography. “I think that’s great. We finished and I’ve seen a rough cut of it. It was hard to finish because Russell got hurt, he had some surgery and then he got back into training again and the movie turned out great. Renee Zellweger was very good with him and there will be some tremendous fights in it.”
Grazer added that director Ron Howard was so taken by Grazer’s current sports movie, Friday Night Lights, that he’s intimidated about his own. “My partner Ron Howard just made this boxing movie and I know that it’s really, really good. He saw this movie last night and he’d never seen it. He called me at 11 o’clock at night and said, ‘My God, that movie is so good, it makes me have to make this movie better.’ He was just so taken with what these actors had done and what Pete Berg as a filmmaker did with this film that from his singular point of view, he was really excited by it.”
One project that has fallen off Grazer’s slate is The Incredible Shrinking Man, a remake at one time set to star Eddie Murphy and be directed by Keenan Ivory Wayans. “I don't think I’m going to make The Incredible Shrinking Man in its current form, so I’m rethinking it. I have so many other movies I’m actually making… that’s way more on the forefront of my mind right now, I haven’t figured that out yet.<hr></blockquote>
