Vistos los dos primeros episodios de Stumptown. Buena serie con toques procedimentales con Cobie Smulders (Cómo conocí a vuestra madre) y Jake Johnson (New Girl). No es que haya tenido mucho empaque en la audiencia de la ABC. Veremos si aguanta una temporada.

¿No os parece que, al margen de la calidad de vídeo, muchas peliculas y series de HBO tienen un suavizado raro, cómo si aplicasen ellos una especie de interpolación leve de fotogramas? Me he dado cuenta recientemente y es muy molesto, al menos visto desde un Apple TV 4K usando su app.

Por telefono me han dicho que ellos no están para estas cuestiones, que la calidad de vídeo es 1080p, y la compresión es "suficiente para el usuario medio". Pues estamos buenos.

Por ejemplo La Sonrisa de Mona Lisa, The Wire o el intercambio de Eastwood. El movimiento es como demasiado fluido. A ver si va a ser cosa de la app del Apple TV...
Respecto a la compresión, es la que es, ¿no?. Ver Chernobyl se me hizo dificil por la cantidad de escenas complejas y oscuras que tiene, que pixelaban y sufrían de artefactos de compresión...

Tengo que mirar esas que dices, pero si el AppleTV está forzando la salida de alguna manera puede que notes efecto raro precisamente con eso.
Si no me equivoco HBO trabaja como un TV lineal, es decir, con masters 1080i a 25fps, aunque luego los pase a 1080p (ojo que 1080p no significa que sean a 24fps).
El tema de la compresión sigue limitado por la puñetera manía que tienen de seguir utilizando Flash en algunas de sus apps y eso limita el bitrate in cierta manera.

No os comais la cabeza, ya dijeron que no van a mover un dedo por la app porque la van a sustituir con la nueva de HBO Max el año que viene.
Se que es una putada pero ahora mismo tienen diferentes apps según el lugar del planeta:
-HBO GO/Now para USA
-HBO Nordic para paises de Europa
-HBO España esta partio del nordic aunque creo que lo lleva otro equipo porque a veces hay diferencias respecto al Nordic y no solo en el idioma.
Cual es el problema pues que esta gente tiene un cacao tremendo con tanto equipo y apps cosa que Netflix y Amazon no tiene problema porque con un equipo técnico tienen para todo el planeta.
Cuando se anuncio Hbo Max en el tema técnico comentaron que eran conscientes de esto y que querían tener una única app para todo el planeta lo que es lógico y es de suponer que si todos compartimos la misma app habrá más feedback y arreglaran los fallos antes.

Pero de momento no han dicho nada de un lanzamiento internacional. Primavera de 2020, solo en USA. Así que nosotros seguiremos con HBO España de momento.

Ojalá, ahora que se han expandido a Latinoamérica y Reino Unido, los Amazon Channels lleguen a España, y se pueda contratar y ver HBO desde la app de Prime Video. Es lo que hacen en USA desde hace mucho tiempo, ya que HBO les manda los archivos sin comprimir y Amazon Video los codifica según sus parametros, que tienen más del doble de bitrate que lo que usa HBO en sus propias apps.
También espero que se integre con Apple channels. En USA ya lo está, y de momento el único canal disponible en España en la app TV de Apple es Starzplay.

A través de Apple, además, se puede descargar contenido para su reproducción offline, cosa que no puede hacerse de ninguna otra forma, ya que la app propia de HBO no lo permite.

No, el Apple TV ajusta los fotogramas, es decir, deja pasar a la TV lo que sea de origen, no fuerza nada.
Respecto a Flash, ya no lo usan para nada desde hace bastantes meses, o eso me dijeron
