Pit of Horror scored a lengthy interview with fright fave Robert Englund, and among the many projects the actor discusses is one that we’ve had to keep under our hats for a little while. He reveals that New Line is moving ahead with a NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET prequel, and that a top genre talent has been signed to take the helm. “John [HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER] McNaughton is tapped to direct,” he says. While even Englund isn’t aware of final plot details, he speculates, “I think it should go the CSI route and be sort of like a docudrama that shows his crimes against the children. Then you cast two of the greatest character actors you can find to play the lawyers that get him off. Then of course it leads up to Freddy being burned alive.”
Englund also says that New Line has been talking to John Carpenter about taking part in the much-rumored FREDDY VS. JASON VS. MICHAEL MYERS flick
