BITTER CHRISTMAS finds Pedro Almodóvar in a reflective and meta state, crafting a story within a story about the struggles of the writing process, specifically his writing process, where the line between reality and fiction is blurred and the consequences of when that line get’s crossed. The first 20 minutes had me curious as to where exactly it was all heading, the middle section won me over, and the final 20 are absolutely terrific. It’s an admittedly flawed work from a filmmaker struggling to find a narrative and decide where to take his characters, which ends up becoming the story itself. Vibrant as always, and told with the same passion and emotional specificity that made us all fall in love with Almodóvar’s work to begin

ME quedo sobre todo con eso de "una despiadada autocrítica que pone en perspectiva los últimos 10 años de su carrera" porque menudo salto mortal que pega un director asentadísimo (de 75 años) con esta película y, para mí, sale airoso.
