Venga, una nota de humor. He recibido un Whatsapp de un colega de profesión al que le comenté lo del Rey Lear de Branagh anoche. Se da la circunstancia de que a este hombre le gusta bastante Branagh como director, pero no le gusta nada Shakespeare.
Esto me ha respondido. Lo copio y pego literalmente, con su permiso.
"¡Joder, hasta los cojones estoy ya con su obsesión con el bardo de los huevos!. ¿Pero es que no lo va a dejar estar nunca, o qué?. ¡30 años dando el coñazo con lo mismo, joder! Tenemos un tío que rueda y dirige actores de puta madre, pero que ha desperdiciado gran parte de su filmografía en adaptar al plomo sobrevalorado este. Tres veces intenté ver su Hamlet y tres veces me dormí. Su Mucho Ruido y Pocas Nueces parece un anuncio de yogur griego. El musical aquel que hizo basado en una de sus obras da vergüenza ajena. Enrique V parece un panfleto pro monarquía británica. A tomar por culo ya Shakespeare, hombre.
Y sin embargo luego tiene cosas como Morir Todavía, Frankenstein, Cenicienta, Jack Ryan. Todos peliculones. Historias que merecen la pena, interesantes, no rollos macabeos.
En fin, a ver se la pega este otoño en teatro y se dedica a adaptar (sobre las tablas) obras de teatro de autores contemporáneos, que también se le da bien.
Además, estamos en 2023. ¿Que puede aportar un autor del mil quinientos y pico a la problemática e inquietudes de la sociedad actual?.

Veo que en Filmin tienen Trabajos de Amor Perdidos (Love´s Labour Lost) en "HD", VOSE y castellano. La calidad de imagen es bastante regulera, pero con todo superior al vetusto DVD patrio que se editó en su día.
La película está co-producida, aparte del por el mismo Branagh, por Martin Scorsese (fan declarado de su cine), y Stanley Donen. Branagh había firmado un contrato con Miramax para tres películas con absoluto control creativo, pero tras el estrepitoso fracaso de esta, la primera de ellas. el contrato se rompió.
Esplendoroso musical, en cualquier caso, vitalista y radiante, sin dejar de ser respetuoso para con la obra del bardo que está adaptando en ningún momento.
Como curiosidad, el equipo técnico es exactamente el mismo de su Hamlet.

El Rey de Navarra y sus tres camaradas hacen el solemne y público juramento de estudiar juntos y de renunciar a las mujeres durante tres años. Su honor es inmediatamente puesto a prueba con la llegada de la Princesa de Francia y de sus tres adorables acompañantes. Los cuatro se quedan prendados de las damas francesas, y los esfuerzos que harán para salvaguardar su honor y ocultar sus sentimientos resultarán inútiles.
