Silent Hill f isn't out until September 25, but the first review is in. This comes courtesy of Japanese outlet Famitsu, which has given the game a score of 36/40.
That would be a great score for any game, but it only gets better when you look at the scores for previous Silent Hill entries. Put simply, Famitsu reckons that this is the best game in the series, as it scores higher than any of the other Silent Hill titles.
Now, it is of course worth mentioning that Famitsu does its scores a little differently than most outlets. They have four reviewers on a game, all rating it out of 10, hence the highest score possible being 40 once all of them are added together.
The score is brought to us ahead of time by a preview of the next issue of Famitsu, courtesy of ryokutya2089. Here, it's revealed that all of the four reviewers gave Silent Hill f a nine, resulting in that overall score of 36. Specifically, reviewers praised the setting, visuals, and combat.
ResetEra user Rod also went to the effort of compiling the previous Silent Hill review scores from Famitsu.
Silent Hill 2 Remake: 35/40
Silent Hill: 34/40
Silent Hill 2: 34/40
Silent Hill 3: 33/40
Silent Hill 4: The Room: 33/40
So, as far as the Famitsu reviewers are concerned, this is the best game in the series yet. It beats the last game, Silent Hill 2 Remake, by one point, and that was a hit with fans, so there's a lot to look forward to. And really, Silent Hill fans do deserve this after all they've been through.
Silent Hill f launches on September 25. It will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
