9:05 P.M. Stone backstage after winning best actress. Cullinan tweeted a similar photo of her just before the fiasco.">
9:06 P.M. Beatty, flustered by the discovery of the words “Emma Stone, La La Land” on the card inside the envelope that he was handed, shows it to Dunaway, ostensibly to get her take on the situation, but she sees the words “La La Land” and reads them aloud. The envelope reads, "Actress in a Leading Role." The small gold type may have been hard to read — but no one could have imagined that the presenters would be handed the wrong envelope.">
9:09 P.M. Berger (center) is the last La La Land producer to give an acceptance speech. While he is speaking, stage manager Natoli (wearing headset) searches for a "Best Picture" envelope to confirm which film actually won. Here, Natoli is surrounded by (from left) Hurwitz, Horowitz, Stone, executive producer Mike Jackson, Beatty, Cullinan and Ruiz. Seconds later, Berger ends his speech and Horowitz steps up to the mic.">
9:09 P.M. "There's a mistake. Moonlight — you guys won best picture. This is not a joke." He then grabs, from Beatty, the card with "Moonlight" on it, holds it up and says, "Moonlight, best picture."">
9:10 P.M. Kimmel says with mock outrage, "Warren, what did you do?!" Beatty addresses the audience, "I want to tell you what happened. I opened the envelope and it said, 'Emma Stone, La La Land.' That’s why I took such a long look at Faye and at you. I wasn’t trying to be funny." Kimmel interjects, "Well, you were funny." Beatty responds, "Thank you very much," before reintroducing Moonlight as the winner.">
