El SAG-AFTRA (el sindicato de actores), acusa a la Academia de realizar prácticas “intimidatorias” con los presentadores de la gala:

El comunicado del sindicato:

SAG-AFTRA has fielded numerous requests to respond to assertions that the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences exerts extraordinary and unwarranted pressure on talent to hold them from appearing at other award presentations.

We have received multiple reports of these activities and have experienced firsthand the Academy’s graceless pressure tactics and attempts to control the awards show talent pipeline. Awards season is a very special time when actors and actresses are being appropriately celebrated and recognized for the outstanding quality of their work. We would expect the Academy to honor these goals.

This self-serving intimidation of SAG-AFTRA members is meant to limit their opportunities to be seen and honor the work of their fellow artists throughout the season. Actors should be free to accept any offer to participate in industry celebrations.

The apparent attempt by the Academy to keep our members from presenting on their own awards show is utterly outrageous and unacceptable. The SAG Awards supports their union’s operations and important charitable assistance programs that provide valuable support to performers.

We call on the Academy to cease this inappropriate action.”

Yo vi Roma hace pocos días y ciertamente no sé si es que no la entendí del todo o que parece un manual de fotografía en B/N pero a mí no me llena tanto como para que reciba el Oscar. Lo digo porque recibe premios que la dirigen en esa dirección y cuando todavía no tenemos las nominaciones ni hemos visto el resto de películas en España voy a ser cauteloso en decir que no lo merece, porque no sé como va el nivel este año.

Además ¿Podría darse el caso de que recibiera dos nominaciones? Película y Película extranjera. ¿Pensáis que degradándola a solo a una le harían un vacío?

El guión de black panther? pero hacia dónde cojones se está dirigiendo la humanidad?

Los que me leéis, ya sabéis que en todos estos años (y ya son bastantes) que llevamos el hilo de los Oscar (y demás premios) cada temporada, siempre digo que me gusta particularmente estos premios (USC Scripter awards)
Lo primero, porque los organiza una Junta de las Bibliotecas de la Universidad del Sur de California. Por tanto, gente versada, que sabe de textos.
Segundo, porque como dice el Doctor, se premia al autor de la obra original y al de la adaptación. Son los únicos que se acuerdan del origen del escrito.
Tercero, porque el marco donde se entregan los premios, el mismo campus de la Universidad es precioso.Lo decoran con todos los posters de las pelis nominadas a las afueras, a modo de pasillo para la entrada al recinto.

en esta edición, más allá de lo de Black panther, que nos indica la gran magnitud que ha tenido esta película, cinematográficamente hablando y también socialmente, ya digo, que me gusta mucho ver la nominación de Leave no trace, una película pequeñita de esta directora, Debra Granik, autora también de aquel guión y directora de Winter´s bone, otra maravilla de hace ya 8 años. Cómo pasa el tiempo.

La muerte de Stalin, o If beale street could talk, o la misma Can you ever forgive me? creo que son muy notables guiones y que, dado su conocimiento y que además, ellos no le tienen que hacer favores a nadie, ni se los deben, hacen unos premios a seguir con interés.

El año pasado, el premio fue para Call me by your name

Hombre es que Leave No Trace es una joya en mayúsculas, para mí referencia en todo, en guión, actuación, puesta en escena, sonido y la imagen es un 3D sin gafas. Además que me puso una lagrimita en algunas escenas. Película maravillosa.

Pues me alegra leerte. Es una peli que nadie debe perderse. Entre la crítica ha tenida grandísima aceptación pero es de esas que en los premios gordos desaparece del mapa. Por eso, en la medida de lo posible, los que estamos en este foro (que nos leen bastante gente) debemos hacer recomendaciones como esta. Recordad, Leave no trace. En España, NO dejes rastro (aunque en algún sitio aparezca como Sin rastro, de manera errónea). Hay dvd.

Ya están aquí las nominaciones del gremio de efectos visuales (Vissual Effects Society)
Los ganadores se anunciarán el 5 de febrero.

Datos interesantes de los premios del gremio de efectos visuales:

Esta es la 17ª edición de sus premios.

El VES Visionary Award (el premio honorífico) de este año recae en el director, productor y guionista, Jonathan Nolan.
Nolan ha participado activamente en los guiones y más, junto a su hermano Christopher, en varios films de este.ç
Además, en televisión y junto a su esposa, Lisa Joy, han creado series como Person of interest o Westworld.

El año pasado en la categoría gorda de cine (Visual effects in a photoreal feature), el ganador fue War for the planets of the Apes. En los Oscar, sin embargo, la ganadora en los efectos especiales fue Blade Runner 2049.

En cualquier caso, el año pasado, las cinco nominadas en este apartado en los premios de la VES fueron también las nominadas en los efectos especiales en los Oscar.

Pues es curioso, si os fijais, Black Panther que ha ganado en varias asociaciones de criticos y demas, premio a efectos visuales...

Pues como digo en el post anterior, es significativo. A lo mejor no son tan "buenos" a ojos de los especialistas en la materia.

El otro día leí un artículo acerca de como se hacía campaña para esa categoría. Básicamente, reunían a los votantes, les enseñaban un video y les daban una breve explicación del proceso de creación. El autor del artículo comentaba que era importante el orden de presentación, el propio ponente y la forma de calar en la audiencia, así como la popularidad de la película claro está y su calidad.

Curiosamente comentaba que una de las que más había calado había sido Welcome to Marwen.

Por diversos motivos estoy bastante desconectado del hilo (y del foro, muy a mi pesar), pero hoy he sacado un ratito para ver los Globos de Oro (sí, no los había visto hasta ahora), y este momento me ha llegado al alma:



Que no hayan aprovechado este año para darle un oscar honorífico a Dick Van Dyke es de juzgado de guardia...
