Earlier this month we reported that Bewitched (and spin-off Tabitha was headed to DVD on June 21st. Now Variety has confirmed that information, and told us something new in the process! Here's a quote from the well-known Hollywood trade newspaper:

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will bow the entire 36-episode, black-and-white first season of the 1960s TV series in a four-disc set June 21.

Sony will offer the series in its original black-and-white form, or with episodes that were colorized years ago for syndicated reruns. They will be available separately on DVD for $39.95 each.

Sony also is simultaneously releasing all 13 episodes of the 1977 spinoff series "Tabitha," starring Lisa Hartman and Robert Urich.

So you'll be given a choice on store shelves of buying either a "B&W" box set or a "Colorized" box set of Bewitched - The Complete 1st Season? Nice job, and a TV-on-DVD first!

En Telemadrid echaron toda la serie por la mañana (a eso de las 11:30) durante todos los días (salvo findes), a dos episodios por sesión y en orden cronológico el año pasado.

Estuve grabándolos para recordar viejos tiempos y todos fueron en color (no se si colorearon los primeros).

Creo recordar que solo la primera temporada era en B/N, y aunque ese sea su color original me veo muy tentado a comprar la coloreada (creo que no hicieron un mal trabajo)

Bueno, parece que tendremos el audio neutro con el que la vimos aquí, aunque los extras serán mínimos:

- Bloopers: "Magic and Mishaps"
- Full length Bewitched Theatrical Trailer
Por cierto, también se confirma para el mismo día el lanzamiento de Tabitha, la serie que continuaba la historia de Samantha, con su hija como protagonista.

This past Monday we excitedly relayed Sony's announcement that the classic TV show Bewitched was coming to DVD on June 21st. Two different varieties of the set will be released: one that is in the Original Black-and-White broadcast version (which is what TVShowsOnDVD recommends), and a colorized version as well for those who just can't stand watching the first season in the shades of gray it was originally produced in.

Now Sony has revealed the exact list of extras that will be included on both sets. What follows is the studio description of the set(s), plus the bonus features in the studio's words:

Elizabeth Montgomery stars as Samantha Stephens, a pretty, typical America housewife who just happens to be a witch in this beloved comedy classic. Included in this magical DVD collection is the Emmy Award-winning series' entire first season - 36 episodes that introduces on of the funniest ensemble casts in TV history. Dick York as Samantha's mortal husband Darrin, Agnes Moorehead as his witch of a mother-in-law Endora. Alice Pearce as nosey neighbor Gladys Kravitz, George Tobias as her oblivious husband Abner and Marion Lorne as dotty Aunt Clara. Join them and a who's who of '60's pop icon guest stars - Adam West, Raquel Wlech, Peggy Lipton and Arte Johnson - in this enchanting charming, and hysterically funny look at the suburban lifestyles of the witch and famous.

The running time is 917 minutes, and language support is now noted to be English, Spanish, and Portuguese on the soundtrack, and subtitles in Spanish, Chinese,Thai, and Portuguese. Rumors have said that this level of language support is only found on the Colorized set, because it was released that way (colorized) in Japan a while back, and that the Black-and-White set only contains English. We haven't been able to confirm that with Sony; as far as we know, both sets should have the same language support. If this changes, we'll note it in the individual DVD listings here at the site.

En dvdempire dicen que audio y subtítulos sólo en inglés... y ellos no suelen equivocarse en esas cosas... a ver cuando tienen disponible la parte trasera de la carátula para confirmarlo.

Siempre se puede hacer como cuando emitian pelis coloreadas, uno baja el color de la tele y listo :))

No es la mejor opción :( pero ayuda :atraco

PD: Lo que habrá que tener cuidado con el precio aquí, de momento Columbia se porta pero...

Estaba temblando pensando en que iba a pasar con la edición de aquí cuando se anunciara, ya que en USA salen las dos versiones lo lógico es que aquí hubieran hecho lo mismo, pero ya me temia que algo raro iba a ocurrir y es que solo saliese una versión. Pero es que encima la que sale es la de color :apaleao
