Misión: Imposible 3

<blockquote>Quote:<hr>Studio vice chair Rob Friedman said that the date will allow for greater success with a worldwide release, adding that Mission: Impossible 3 is expected to open day and date in many overseas markets. He also told the trade that the change in release dates isn't due to any production delays. "We just feel that June 29 is a better date," he added.

The film is expected to get rolling next month with Narc director Joe Carnahan at the helm.

Re: John Woo powa!

<blockquote>Quote:<hr>The first hard rumor to come out after Joe Carnahan left his post as director on MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 was that "Alias" creator JJ Abrams was taking over as director. It was a rumor that seemed to have some steam but then abruptly fizzled out with names like Brett Ratner and John Woo also popping up. Now Abrams name is back in the mix and the rumor has become official - he will direct M:I3 based on a rewrite on Frank Darabont's current draft. Cruise flew to the "Alias" set to meet with Abrams (the genesis of all these rumors) and talk to him about coming aboard M:I3. But with his commitments to "Alias" and his new ABC series "Lost" prevented him from accepting the offer outright. But in the last 48 hours, as Cruise and Spielberg's deal for WAR OF THE WORLDS began to come together, Abrams came back into the mix once it became apparent M:I3 would see delays well into next year and scheduling would no longer be a problem. This week in Berlin, crew members for M:I3 were given their last paycheck and told to return home. How this delay affects the participation of M:I3 co-stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Kenneth Branagh and Scarlett Johansson remains to be seen. As Variety points out, the move comes as a bit of redemption for Abrams whose script for SUPERMAN was once so hot at Warner Bros. before it was unceremoniously dumped last month for Bryan Singer's new take on the material. Wonder if M:I3 and SUPERMAN will eventually face off at the box-office? The news of MISSION's delays will meet welcome faces at Fox who were preparing a showdown on July 1, 2005, the day both films were scheduled for release.<hr></blockquote>

Source: Paramount Pictures Monday, August 16, 2004

Paramount Pictures and Cruise/Wagner Productions made it official today that J.J. Abrams will direct Mission: Impossible 3, starring Tom Cruise, Ving Rhames, Carrie-Anne Moss, Kenneth Branagh, and Scarlett Johansson.

Abrams, the screenwriter of Armageddon, is also the creator of Alias and Felicity as well as a writer on the new television series Lost. Having directed all three of those series, Abrams makes his major motion picture directorial debut with the third installment of "Mission: Impossible."

Previously being prepped in Berlin, the film is now set to begin shooting in the summer of 2005.

Cruise will first team up with director Steven Spielberg on The War of the Worlds, which starts filming this November. The 2005 release is a Paramount and DreamWorks production.

Based on H.G. Wells' legendary science fiction classic, "The War of the Worlds" (published in 1898), the film is a modern day version of what many critics agree is the definitive model for alien invasion stories.<hr></blockquote>

Re: John Woo powa!

</p>

Abrams

Re: John Woo powa!

<blockquote>Quote:<hr>Tom Cruise spoke to Entertainment Weekly about his two upcoming projects, MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 3 and WAR OF THE WORLDS. While most of what he said about WORLDS was kinda static - "It's going to be exciting, it's going to be really scary, and it's going to maintain the tone of H.G. Wells' book" - he had some interesting tidbits on M:I3. First off, he hinted that co-stars Carrie-Anne Moss, Scarlett Johansson and Kenneth Branagh might not stick around. Of the cast he said, "it's just me" and that while he'd love to work with the trio, he'd wait to see what happens to the story. "You have to start with the director and see where he's going to take us," Cruise explains. The actors are up in the air and the plot appears to be as well. There's no telling whether the existing script will remain the same or see sizable changes in the hands of director JJ Abrams. "We don't know yet," said Cruise said of any changes. "We're just now talking about story. But it's J.J. Abrams' 'Mission: Impossible' that I'm interested in." Abrams is the third director attached to M:I3 after David Fincher and Joe Carnahan. Filming on the final installment in the planned MISSION trilogy is scheduled to begin next June with Cruise and Spielberg taking on WORLDS this November.<hr></blockquote>

Re: John Woo powa!

<blockquote>Quote:<hr>Scarlett Still in M:I-3
Actress still set for delayed Cruise actioner.

December 22, 2004 - Despite significant delays in the film's production schedule, Scarlett Johansson is still set for Mission: Impossible III. In fact, according to the Contact Music website, Johansson says she's already under undergoing intensive training for her role in the third installment of Tom Cruise's action franchise.

While she's just now wrapping Michael Bay's The Island, the busy starlet told the site, "[M:I-3 has] been postponed 'til September while it's rewritten. But I'm doing weapons training for it! Just pulling the trigger is easy enough, but when you're loading your magazine and you have a machine gun and a handgun and a shotgun, and you're trying to figure out how to use them all."

"I'm being trained by someone who was in the special forces," Johansson says, "so I get to know interesting stuff like how they train the Iraqi army."

When the project was delayed last summer and a new director came on board it became unclear whether or not attached cast members would remain. The involvement of Carrie Anne Moss and Kenneth Branagh is still in question. Tom Cruise recently told Entertainment Weekly, "I want to work with Carrie and Scarlett... and Kenneth is someone I've been wanting to work with for years, but you have to start with the director and see where he's going to take us."

The film's new director is J.J. Abrams (Alias). He took the reigns after Joe Carnahan (NARC) dropped out of the project.

Mission: Impossible III is expected to start filming in September 2005.<hr></blockquote>

Re: Mission:impossible 3

</p>

Re: Mission:impossible 3
