A ver:
Posting this here as well after receiving my replacement set:
I've been going through the replacement set and can confirm:
- Rocky 1 is now corrected re the mono, AND the piano cue is restored in the 5.1 (first time ever). The 5.1 mix also feels more reminiscent of the mono re music levels though this could be placebo.
- Rocky 2 is now pitch corrected. I definitely recommend the theatrical audio (it has the correct flag to decode into surround). The best point of comparison between the theatrical Vs the remastered is the when the Conquest cue comes in. On the theatrical it is suitably epic (especially on home theatre system) and doesn't compare on the remastered.
- Rocky 3 - this is an interesting one. Only the dub tracks on the original release were affected but the main two English tracks (remastered & theatrical) were fine. Now the interesting bit is that on the original release the theatrical audio used to correctly decode to surround sound. On the new disc this check/flag isn't encoded into the track anymore and so needs to be enabled by the receiver. It's a toss up on preference but I think it's fine to keep the original disc with the decode flag in place.
Rocky 4 - no issues at all - the framing error is corrected for those that enjoy the original cut. I prefer Rocky v Drago cut.
