En teoría, es una orden iniciática, restringida y secreta, con unos pocos millares de miembros repartidos por toda una galaxia (la Muy, Muy Lejana, para ser exactos). Pero, mira tú por dónde, resulta que la mayor parte de los Jedi existentes en nuestro universo no se encuentran en Tatooine, ni en Corellia, ni siquiera en Coruscant… sino en Australia. Actualmente, cerca de 70.00 habitantes del país antípoda afirman profesar la fe de la Fuerza, algo que está mosqueando tanto al gobierno australiano como a algunos sectores de la población.
¿Por qué este mosqueo? Pues porque, según la legislación australiana, cuando una religión supera los 10.000 seguidores declarados pasa a ser reconocida oficialmente. De ahí que los miembros del culto Jedi (en su mayoría ateos, warsies irredentos, bromistas o una mezcla de las tres cosas). La Atheist Foundation of Australia ha llamado la atención sobre el hecho, advirtiendo de que las estadísticas del último censo “hacen que el país parezca más religioso de lo que es en realidad”. Recordando que “los datos sobre afiliación religiosa determinan las políticas públicas, la planificación ciudadana y las medidas de apoyo a la comunidad, entre otras cosas”, esta organización ha lanzado una campaña que piden a los autoproclamados Jedi que se declaren como ateos en las encuestas de rigor.

Excelente artículo. Lo leí en su momento tratando de encontrar todo aquello que Lucas, por su forma de ser, no suele relatar en sus memorias sobre como llevó a cabo todo su imperio.Mas bien del VI por que en primer plano aparece el Tie interceptor y creo que solo sale en el retorno.

Cabe destacar como el trabajo, la excesiva carga del mismo (volvió a tener problemas de ansiedad durante la producción del Imperio Contraataca similares a los que le llevaron al hospital durante la producción de Star Wars), especialmente en 1982-1983, cuando se juntaron El retorno del Jedi y la finalizaciónd el Rancho Skywalker, pusieron fin a ese matrimonio. En el artículo se relata como apenas podían verse y como Lucas estaba metido de lleno en todos los aspectos de su empresa, haciendo mil cosas y descansando apenas los domingos.
Lo curioso de su biografía fue que construyó ese Rancho pensando en hacer sus películas, como director, y al final no hizo ninguna hasta 1997-1999. Sí lo hizo como hombre-estudio, con Indiana Jones, Willow y Laberinto, post-producción aparte (que en eso siempre estuvo algo al margen a partir de mediados de los 80 con Scott Ross siendo el principal implicado en el éxito rotundo de la ILM), pero el hacer él solo, para los Episodios V y VI, el trabajo habitual de un estudio y productora/s entero lo dejó tieso, lo separó de Marcia y nos dejó sin nuevas películas con él sentado en la silla de director.

Hay cosas muy curiosas que he podido leer y entender con mi pésimo ingles y gracias al traductor de la figura tan enigmatica y muy desconocida de su ex-mujer y como hay un gran vacio de información después de su matrimonio y como dejo en mundo del cine pasando al anonimato cuando tenia un bagaje como editora magnifico.

The hate for the Star Wars prequels is vociferous and seemingly unending, but a new documentary wants to go back to the movies and re-examine if they were ever worth the anger... and maybe get you to reconsider your opinion on them.
The Prequels Strike Back seeks to re-examine the prequel trilogy after years of loud, wailing rage about how they destroyed childhoods across the world and how, for better or worse, they’ve influenced Star Wars fandom in the modern era. The prequels are certainly flawed films, yes, but were they ever worthy of the intense vitriol lobbed at them?
It’s certainly a noble intent, given decades of anger these films (some deserved, some undeserved) have inspired across swathes of fans. Whether or not it will challenge anyone to reconsider their thoughts on the films remains to be seen, but still, this trailer looks like a set-up for a fascinating documentary.
The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan’s Journey will be available digitally from Amazon, Youtube, and VHX on September 14th.
