Amy Acker dice Spin The Bottle (escrito y dirigido por Joss Whedon)

    J. August Richards dice Waiting in the Wings (escrito y dirigido por Joss Whedon)

No concibo un top five sin Spin the Bootle, Waiting in the Wings, You are Welcome o Not Fade Away (o toda la quinta temporada, ya que nos ponemos).

    Still:

Sebassis: The circle does not abide secrets.
Angel: Which is interesting for a secret society.

Angel: People who don't care about anything will never understand the people who do.
Hamilton: Yeah, but we won't care.

Connor: C'mon, you drop by for a cup of coffee and the world's not ending? Please.

Illyria: I will fight. I've been broken and humiliated. I will return in kind every blow, every sting. I will shred my adversaries, pull their eyes out just enough to turn them toward their mewling, mutilated faces.
Wesley: You're a very inspriational person. Have I mentioned that?

    Bartender: Your funeral.
Spike: Well, I never had a proper one.

Illyria: Would you like me to lie to you now?
    Wesley: Yes. Thank you, yes.

Spike: You're suposed to wear that red stuff on the inside, Charlie boy.

Illyria: Wesley's dead. I'm feeling grief for him. I can't seem to control it. I wish to do more violence.
Spike: Well, wishes just happen to be horses today.
    Angel: Among other things.
Gunn: Okay, you take the 30,000 on the left.
Illyria: You're fading. You'll last ten minutes at the most.
Gunn: Then let's make them memorable.
Spike: And in terms of a plan...?
    Angel: We fight.
    Spike: Bit more specific.
Angel: Well, personally, I kinda want to slay the dragon. Let's go to work.

Añadiría, de la 5a, Smile Time o You're Welcome.

    James Marsters (Spike):

JM: There was a scene between Buffy and me in a church, and I think I ended up draping myself over a cross. I was very, very sad. [It was] a very dramatic scene. [Joss Whedon] didn’t direct it. He saw the footage and came up to me and he said, “Okay, James, I’ve got good news and bad news, what do you want?” I said, “Well, give me the bad news first.” He said, “Okay. That scene that was so important, your whole career-making scene? That sucks. It’s horrible. You kind of overacted. It’s not your fault. It was the direction. But it’s just so on the nose, and it’s just cringe-worthy. Do you want the good news?” I said, “Yeah.” He said, “Okay, I’m going to rewrite it, I’m going to direct it, I’m going to save this, it’s going to be right. Don’t worry.”

Y no mintió. Pedazo momento.

In the Soddin' Engine: A Look at the Beneath You Church Scene

Termina así: This is an incredibly powerful scene that always moves me to tears. It's beautifully directed and acted by both James Marsters and Sarah Michelle Gellar. I can't give enough kudos to it. It works in so many ways, and forwards Spike's character to a whole new level. It finally gives the audience Spike's perspective on the events of S6, which was much-needed. It effectively changes Buffy's very ideology by showing a soulless vampire who was willing to fight for his soul. It comments on themes set up very early on in the series, and it foreshadows and sets the stage for events and themes that will run till the end of the series. It's absolutely brilliant.

    Lo es.

Special talents: Watching (obviously), traditionally English understatements, getting knocked out, taking his glasses off and rubbing the bridge of his nose, acting in loco parentis, acoustic guitar, not being a hero.

Books smell musty and-and-and rich. The knowledge gained from a computer is a . . . it, uh, it has no-no texture, no-no context. It’s-it’s there and then it’s gone. If it’s to last, then-then the getting of knowledge should be, uh, tangible. It should be, um, smelly.”

    18. "Two Storms" was inspired by "The Body" episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

How Syfy's 'Wynonna Earp' Is Paying Homage to 'Buffy'

An early review of Wynonna Earp mentioned that you had the Joss Whedon playbook open for reference. Do you think that the comparisons to Whedon and/or Buffy helped get eyes on the show?

I think so. When I was pitching Wynonna Earp I said that it was Buffy meets Justified. I truly believe Buffy is the beloved cult hit because it deserves to be. It speaks volumes that 20 years have gone by and we're still talking about that show. People see it for what it was, which is groundbreaking. I can't even pretend that Buffy didn't influence me, but I don't want to say Wynonna is derivative. I hope it's not. Joss really taught me what an action heroine could be, which is a completely three-dimensional girl or woman with all those complications who can also kick butt.

Wynonna's pistol, Peacemaker, is essentially Buffy's Mr. Pointy.

Exactly. But with a slightly bigger boom. The thing we do with Peacemaker, which I enjoy, is if you think of it as a horse we're kind of winking at the Western. It's almost as if it has a personality of its own and it's not always obedient. It seems to have its own moral code and its own agency. I like the push/pull. She has a real relationship with it.

Much like Buffy, there's some apologizing that goes along with admitting to watching Wynonna Earp. But if online fandom reveals anything, it's that there's an audience, and that audience is starved for strong, well written female characters. What do you hope viewers takeaway from the show?

Look, it's a big concept, and it's almost a hard sell. The title is slightly ridiculous, and the budget is like, $10. It's a lot like Buffy in that way. I always say, you can see the zipper up the back of the werewolf's costume. The one thing that I strive to emulate from Buffy above everything else is that despite its camp factor and its low budget, it really was about something — about being a woman in the modern world and carving your path and making your own family. You can enjoy Wynonna for both things. I don't apologize for anything. Especially in today's political landscape. I think about people who come home after a long day working, and there's no shame in turning on a show that is pure escapism, that makes you feel joy and laugh out loud, and cry. And maybe make you feel a little empowered for 42 minutes. I want to show that there is more than one type of woman in the world, and there is more than one type of a way for a woman to be a hero. I really relate to people that have struggled to define themselves and to become who they want to be versus what society thinks they should be. It's something I've fought against my whole life, and I think that's why I feel so passionately about representing good LGBTQ on TV, as well. Obviously, the LGBTQ community is one that never sees themselves represented in a way that feels real and fresh and diverse. It's time that our entertainment delivered real characters to us wherever possible. I just want people to feel inspired. I don't care which character on Wynonna Earp inspires you because I think they're all flawed and heroic in a different way. The way that people have embraced Wayhaught is huge to me, the sister relationship is huge to me, the bromance is huge to me. I tricked everybody and wrote a sci-fi show and then added a billion female characters in the traditional male roles, and it seems to be working.

You need to get to at least season 6 for your Buffy-inspired musical episode. Do you think Wynonna Earp could ever possibly go there?

Tim was on a show called Instant Star where he played a boy band manager. Obviously Dom [Provost-Chalkley as Waverly Earp] can sing as we've seen on an episode, Mel has a beautiful voice, Shamier is an incredibly talented singer and I believe dancer. I think Kat Barrell can sing, and if not, we can help her like they helped Amber Benson who was so shy on Buffy. And if not, she can rap. Full Haught gangster rap. With Nedley.

That Twitter handle is being secured as we speak.

Nicole Haught's Microphone. The one thing I will say is that the musical episode of Buffy is so beloved, and the bar is so high that it would have to be really well done. Joss Whedon, can you write it for me? Thanks.

    -----------

    1. The story is a unique modernized “cousin” of Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I don’t know about you, but I could draw parallels to Joss Whedon‘s cult classic right off the bat. Wynonna Earp has a witty protagonist in the revenant slayer of the same name (Melanie Scrofano), just as Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar) possessed that same dry sense of humor as the Chosen One. Each leading lady bore a destiny laden with monster slaying. You have the love triangle between Doc Holliday (Tim Rozon), Agent Dolls (Shamier Anderson) and Wynonna. Buffy the Vampire Slayer also had the love triangle between Spike (James Marsters), Angel (David Boreanaz) and Buffy. A heartfelt romance in WayHaught – Waverly Earp (Dominique Provost-Chalkley) and Nicole Haught (Katherine Barrell).

Of course, lest we forget, Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan) and Tara Maclay (Amber Benson) were a much loved coupling of the early 2000s. They broke television barriers and paved the way for WayHaught. I wrote a whole series of character comparisons between the two fantasy series entitled “Wynonna Wednesdays.” Read them all here, Earpers.
