Earlier today, we posted news regarding the WOTW deleted scene that visual effects supervisor Pablo Helman revealed during a 15 minute WOTW presentation at Comic-Con.
Our San Diego Correspondent Jeremy Agamata has sent us the full report from the event which you can read in his words.
Once he gets to the stage, he immediately tells us he is about to show a clip from War of the Worlds and then we begin the Q and
The first question asks if there were any deleted scenes. Pablo answers "Yes, but I can't talk about them much. But it's a 3-minute scene of tripods grabbing people out of buildings"
The second question: "How hands-on was Spielberg with the special fx?" he answers "A lot. Very hands on, very collaborative and very open"
Following the third question posed at Pablo was what 3D program he used, pablo says that there were quite a few different few programs used in the making of it, but the main one was maya, which was used for the animaion
Then, someone immediately asked "What was the purpous of the designs of the aliens? Why so nice looking?" to which he replied that Spielberg wanted them to look curious, nothing vicious or over threatening
Last but not least, the final question was "What point will we not need actors?" pablo replies " We are always going to need actors, we are extracting their performance. There will always be acting needed, even from the animators."
